Interesting Bokeh at f/2.8! What's the lemak berkrim about anyway?  unsure.gif
*
I am referring to the bokeh bro, creamier by a lot compared to my kit lens smile.gif And "lemak berkrim" was a quotation from Susu Cap Teko adverstisement, I guess 10 years back smile.gif

This thread is a great guide for newbies, thanks guys!

Two question, what's bokeh and HDR?
*
Bokeh is actually referring to blur part at the foreground of your pic while the subject remain sharp. HDR I am not that sure...but it generally refers to unusual colours involved in a picture. Doesn't look natural, but if properly done, the result would be outstanding.

Nice shots there bro.

is it the filter that made the picture looks a bit dark?

Anyways, my brother got a Nissin flashgun for his d40 and it is actually compatible with the E-PL1.
*
I guess so faidz85...but by that time I dare not to take out the filter, as I am afraid the sea wind might damage my lens tongue.gif

Hmm, now waiting eagerly for the Nissin biggrin.gif

Silver E-P2 it is...  thumbup.gif
E-PL1 is too plasticky for my taste and NEX is too 'modern' designed. I'm into old school design so sticking with the E-P2 for the time being... smile.gif
It's my travel and leisure camera anyways so it must be something I'm comfortable in using and show to the public...  laugh.gif
The great thing is many people thought I'm still shooting film when I'm with my E-P1+17mm+VF...  tongue.gif
*
ae8za, does the VF helps when use with 17mm? I am planning to get one as I've got the 17mm already. TQVM in advance smile.gif

20mm f/1.7 suitable for under low light situation, then do I still need to use external flash when using pancake? But if I'm using external flash together with pancake, what will be the effect? And if I'm using 14-42mm lens with external flash when shooting in low light condition, will the effect same as using pancake?

Added on May 23, 2010, 9:55 pm

Thanks for the info...pancake able to shoot under low light condition, so do I still need the external flash when using this pancake?
*
Normally, most of my photographer friend referring the flash is the saviour in a lowlight condition, provided the flash can bounce. My guess is that, for F1.7, you don't need those flash since it is big enough to compensate the lowlight-ness. Do correct me if I am wrong ya smile.gif

BTW do you feel the 17mm is good enough for lowlight?
*
I would say yes...but definitely it's no match to Pana 20mm 1.7 hands down tongue.gif The trade off to the 17mm is that, I'll push my ISO to 1600, and set to max apperture...and there you go smile.gif But...if it still blurry, then that's the max of it already..that's where the flash comes handy smile.gif Actually with flash, the kitlens will do wonder as well. I am nowhere a hustler, but this picture of my kids may give you some ideas:

Those were taken with nikon 18-55 kitlens, with el-cheapo YongNuo YN460 fully manual flash.

Hi guys, im kinda new to camera stuff. Looking for a small size cam for casual shooting & trips.
Im planning to replace my compact camera and get the Olympus E-P1 with a M.Zuiko 17mm lens.

Hope to get some opinions / advice here before purchasing it. Thanks
*
As gogo2 and bobds78, I would say the same too..go for it! thumbup.gif the 17mm 2.8 lens is real good too...yesterday's night during out TT at Subang, my freind show us how much he can get from the 17mm...the result makes me think many times whether or not to sell my 17mm...tongue.gif N

any idea where can get leather jacket for E-PL1 in Msia (perhaps cheaper than Oly half jacket).

I have1  of my fren who doing hand custom-make leather products. She quotes me RM2xx for the leather jacket with option carving the name on the leather.
*
Hmm, I think custom made would be better..with name carving some more..that would be great biggrin.gif
