Hey everyone long time no see! Finally got some time to post tongue.gif

Anyone of you using PEN E-PL1? In fact, I think E-P1 and E-P2 users can also feedback. Do you guys notice hot pixels (kinda like bright spots looking like dusts in dark shots) on your camera? I have been taking night shots recently and I see 'stars' in the sky which I later realized is the hot pixels!

The easiest to reproduce is to place the cap on the lens then take a dark shot. Set ISO to 1000 at any aperture value and take the shot. I see a lot of these bright spots on the frame. Most of the time at the same locations. If I reduce to ISO800, the problem isn't so noticeable. At ISO100 its completely gone no matter how long the exposure time is.

I tried using pixel mapping function but it doesn't do anything. This was different from my previous encounter of bright pixels where I see a bright spot on normal in door shots (although ISO is also 1000). It was removed via pixel mapping.

I am thinking of sending the camera in and letting them check it. It doesn't make sense. Night shots filled with 'stars' or 'snow'.

Tried on my e-p2. no bright spots.

Yup.. GF1's a super good deal now .. or just get a NEX

But I am using a E-P2. Kinda regret though. Over here in Australia, E-P2 cost about AUD1400 when I came here. And Leica X1 is just AUD2100. Regret getting my E-P2 too early in Malaysia, if not I'll end up with a X1.

Anyway, comparing GF1 and NEX, which 1 would be a better choice?

Feel free to bash. Using 14-42 kit lens on EP-2. Just started photography though.
