There is the enthusiast socket with LGA2011... quad channel memory... will expect 8 memory slots... You are looking a 4, 6 or 8 cores cpu/socket with HT for 8, 12, 16 threads.

The LGA1155 socket mainstream CPU will have integrated graphics.

so...issit safe to upgrade sandy bridge processor now...while the B3 version mobo is release...
Until another flaw is found on B3 (unlikely as Intel's Ass is on the line).... should be safe.

Or simply switch to a brand/board that does have video ports out..

like MSI's;

Z68 should not be significantly more expensive tan P67... few dollars/ringgit difference in chip price only... and a drop in MB most cases, without much board redesign.

the z68x-ud7 looked exactly like the p67a-ud7, perhaps just a bit of changes. anyway, i don't see why i need the on-die intel graphics when i can use discrete graphics. if my discrete graphic card has problem, i think i can wait for a few weeks as it is not as long as i had  waited for the replacement of the ud7  for about 3 months  and at the same time also waited for the arrival of hd6990. Nationtech is good enough to totally replaced my ud7 with a whole new package.

i would even prefer if my motherboard has no onboard sound (since i will never use it) but it is already a permanent feature on all motherboards so it is disabled all the way.

integrated graphic will work great if i'm building a htpc or a basic torrent downloading machine but not on my gaming system.

And for SSD caching feature, i think it works like the momentus XT but in the end,  the user will also need to invest on a small capacity SSD so that it feature will work. In the end, i would just go and get a SSD to store my games.

Well, i could be wrong but it is just my opinion.
Different people different needs..... if you game only (and overclock) P67 will suffice..

H67 will suffice.

Z68 can cater to the widest chipset option for most... (that P67 and H67 does not serve)...

case points: Encoding/Decoding advantage with Overclocking, Overclocking IGP and Processor, IGP with overclocked Processor, Multiple display outputs in IGP in combo with GC and overclocking.

Added on April 19, 2011, 5:03 pmDisplay port is listed.... as well as HDMI/DVI.... they are probably at the back-plate or onboard headers.

according to this trend . cheap price range - H67 , mid-price range - p67 , so I think z68 will get high price range . Because since gigabyte continue to produce h67 and p67 , why they would put z68 in p67 range(RM400~600 is entry board of p67) ? that would cut p67 sales . Any opinions    smile.gif ? But I think p67 board will drop price  hmm.gif .
I would say z68 MB would be at a comparable price to p67 MB..... which would kill off p67...

P67 & Z68 is just few dollars different, i don't know why don't intel just simply develop Z68 since it provide H67+P67 function~
delayed z68 release.... so it would not kill p67 sales..

ASRock has already released 3 new Z68 motherboards on their website. Other manufacturers have not listed their Z68 motherboards yet.

ASRock Z68 Extreme4
ASRock Z68 Pro3
ASRock Z68 Pro3-M
Nice.... Might get a z68 pro3-m or two....

What AGP stands for?

I'm waiting for ASRock Z68 but I hope all the rumors about buggy z68 Bios is not true.
Acclerated Graphics Port.... a long dead/buried technology.... I guess he meant Video instead.

Oh yeah I'm pretty sure I'm within that 5% that want a maximus with onboard graphic to offload some of my monitors. Although I don't doubt that my CF wouldn't be affected much powering the other few screens. I could always toss in a dual DVI card that I have to offload my main gpus on the third PCI slot. Just blows that it doesn't come with on board
I'm also the 5% (or less) that want to use onboard GC and multiple PCI-e lanes for other uses than GCs...

onboard can take 2 monitors... I've 7 more monitors....

That's true but I think it's just with the rationale that most people running on a high end board like this wouldn't be bothered about the onboard video smile.gif
Use a high end board not for gaming, but for overclocking CPU/encoding/decoding/extra PCI-lanes ................is one.....

If that's the case, you're just spending the money on the wrong place smile.gif If you're not intending to overclock high enough, you don't even need a high end board at the first place. Of course it's your choice but to me it's always about practicality.
What other board allows you to overclock a CPU to the max and allows u to use on board GPU, than a Z68 board mid to high-end... low end ones are just too sparse/limited.

Don't forget to add shipping and 7% taxes for most parts in the states. In Canada, taxes is 13%. We aren't paying a lot more premium actually
We are..... computer parts in Malaysia is tax free..... so in this case we can blame local distributors for the price hike.

ASUS P8Z68-V PRO should cost around RM650 (@ most) .....

7970 Lightning + U3011, must buy ACTIVE miniDP to Dual-Link DVI adapter (RM350) to display 2560x1600, because Lightning only has Single-Link DVI which can display up to 1920x1200 only sad.gif
I disagree... why go the long/redundant way.... U3011 has DP input... go direct mini-DP to DP.

Only if the older 30inches that has no DP port.
