Most likely to buy this weekend or next week. Still getting my final spec done.

I already got my Asus P8P67, i5-2500K and corsiar 4GB 1333Mhz. Just install it with a hyper 212+.
Did a little overclock by just increasing the multiplier to 45x. every other options set to auto. Was able to perform prime95 for 1 hour, no problem, but the temp was around 70-72'C. My ambient is around 30-35'C. The vcore according to Asus monitoring = 1.328v. Anyoneusing hyper 212+ getting this temps? |

Just got my i5-2500k too. Nearly all the store in Lowyat ran out of i5-2500k and no more i7-2600k. Moreover damn ASUS raise the motherboard price so much.
It seems no one are sure when they will restock the processor and there is a high chance they will raise the price for the processor. =.=" |

TQ. the new gma are powerful for an igp, the gma hd3000 score 4800 on 3dmark2006 at 1024x768, great igp, but h67 motherboard are not allow to overclock its multiplier because of the graphic core, but the hd300 are allowed to been overclocked, been heard that intel will release z67 chipset, that maybe can increase multiplier as well as the use of gma hd3000p.s, my guess is that the gma inside the sandy bridge are the one that contributes to the heat, so oc the processor with gpu on load is completely no-no This post has been edited by zerorating: Jan 16 2011, 02:11 AM |

QUOTE Hi there Right guys myself and our technical guys have spent the entire weekend and this morning in discussions with Intel regarding the alarming amount of reports of Sandybridge CPU's dying and have been conducting our own testing as have Intel to find out what is a definite no no. Sandybridge maximum safe voltages Core Voltage - Not recommended too exceed 1.38v, doing so could kill the CPU, we therefor recommend a range of 1.325-1.350v if overclocking. Memory Voltage - Intel recommend 1.50v plus/minus 5% which means upto 1.58v is the safe recommended limit. In our testing we have found 1.65v has caused no issues. BCLK Base Clock - This is strictly a NO, anyone using base clock overclocking could/will cause damange to CPU/Mainboard. (Set manually to 100) PLL Voltage - Do not exceed 1.9v!! Processor - Basically we recommend customers not to exceed 1.35v to play it safe, all our bundles are set at 1.3250v or lower, any competitors offering bundles above 4.6GHz you should be enquiring as to what voltage they are using as we believe anything over 1.38v will limit CPU lifespan and anything over 1.42v will likely kill the CPU or severely limit its lifespan. Memory - Intel recommend 1.50v plus/minus 5% which means 1.60v is the ideal safe maximum, but we have found in our testing all 1.65v memory is fine. We have also found most new 1.65v like Corsair XMS3 will run at its rated timings with just 1.50-1.55v which is well within Intel specifications. So people upgrading to Sandybridge you can still use your old DDR3, but we do recommend you run it at 1.60v or less. We are shipping most of our bundles which feature Corsair XMS at 1.50v-1.55v at rated timings. We've also discussed with Asus and MSI regarding voltages for memory and they also confirm in their testing 1.65v caused no issues with reliability. Base Clock - To put it simple if you value the life of your components, do not overclock using base clock! PLL Voltage - Again do not exceed 1.9v! These are just guidelines we recommend you follow, if you want to push more voltage through your CPU's then just be aware they could die on you. Your warranty is un-affected and we will honor any CPU's that die, we just won't ask questions as to how you killed them. Not all CPU's are as fragile as others, we have experimented upto 1.50v Vcore and 1.70v memory and had zero issues with reliability, so it seems some of fine when pushing hard. Quoted from Gibbo at overclockers.co.uk forums. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost....492&postcount=1 Hopefully this will be added to the OP since its very useful info for early SB aka LGA 1155 adopters. Got my system 2 days back. A mix and match of my old gears and new gears.
i5 2500K P8P67 deluxe kingston ddr3 1333 2x4GB (8GB) Leadtek GTX 460 1GB DDR5 OC edition Samsung F3 1TB TP Link wifi N card Silverstone FT-02 CM Hyper 212 Plus Logitech MX518 Razer Blackwidow Intel 80GB SSD (my own) WD Blue 640 GB (my own) PC power & Cooling single rail 610W PSU (my own) Creative Audigy Platinum EX (my own) Cost me a total of RM3810 for the total new stuff thanks to kenneth from lowyat. It feels nice to have a PC that has all wireless connection, bluetooth and wifi. Wanna consult asus motherboard owners, any problem with bluetooth? I manage to pair the mobo bluetooth with my bluetooth headset after installing the driver from asus CD but the sound is like jerky, broken for 2 sec, then no sound, then sound come again. Anyone experiencing similar problem? Will try to use the OC guideline listed earlier to OC tomorrow. Right now busy installing software and update windows. 8GB of ram sure is nice, lucky i go for more ram rather than faster rams. 8GB of rams cost me less than RM260!!! |

QUOTE(areszues92 @ Jan 17 2011, 06:15 PM) What are you trying to say? Don't understand your question...Whatever the RAM speed is, natively Intel allows 1333, 1600, 1886 and 2133 to be chosen. So as long as the motherboard allows it, then theres no issue with your 1600mhz kit. Or what are you asking exactly? |

I am trying to overclock based on online guide. But the first thing to do is to update bios, the new UEFI bios of asus motherboard. Tried running the auto update of asus software, it could not find new bios to update. I am running version 0402 which is dated october 2010. The guide mention to use minimum 0907 and above. Any idea how can I get the updated bios?
Also, the guide mention to set mutiplier to 45x. I cannot find the option to change multiplier to 45x. Is it not named "multiplier" but used another name in the UEFI? Rest voltage and all can easily identified and changed. But CPU-Z is not really working for me. Sometimes showing me got 3.3GHz, sometimes just 1.6 GHz. Don't know what is wrong. |

CPU-Z shows you 1.6ghz because your PC is running idle, the CPU will be automatically slowed down to use less power, it shows 3.3ghz when you're running some heavy programs (gaming for example). |

I think it is better to get 1600 version if the price diff isnt much especially those who are getting the performance RAM. Intel might be moving to 1600 on Ivy bridge, who knows.

Intel might be moving to 1600 on Ivy bridge, who knows. Unfortunately that isn't the case here.4GB of a Corsair Dominator C9 1600mhz is RM300. You can get 8GB of RAM @ 1333mhz for RM250. You do the calculation. I'd honestly go for more RAM instead since the speed difference is pretty much negligible. And by the time Ivy Bridge comes around, 1600mhz kits will be dirt cheap anyways with 8GB kits being the standard instead. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Jan 18 2011, 01:11 AM |

I think ram prices of those 1600 should drop soon. Online price for G.Skill ripjaw 1600 series is just USD50 for 2x2GB kits. Anyway, my bluetooth is working fine now. I think must be because of some codec issue it was streaming just bits and pieces yesterday. I open different media files, mkv, avi, xvid, and multiple players running like vlc, realplayer and wmv, so all jumbled up.
I see, so the processor does slow down when not on load. No wonder I see just 1.6GHz. I tried go to asus ftp site. Cannot find the latest bios for P8P67. Anyone who has the latest bios firmware please upload a link here. Thanks. |
