what about dress shoes? lace open or closed? to go with your suit..

basically i want a dress shoe that goes hand in hand when it comes to formal occasions or casual business attire...pls reply thanks

Can i wear slip ons or laced? Is it Really necessary to wear laced shoes? Or can i wear slip ons with the suit?
I dnt want to be able to wear the shoes only when i wear a suit
