Hi guy, i plan to commission a SB from ah like.was wondering whether 350 grams for fabric is a bit too heavy for Malaysian weather. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOHAIR-WOOL-WORS...8e#ht_787wt_689

Thanks guys. I have contacted Howard and he has recommended the following fabric:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KID-MOHAIR-WOOL-...=item519b17e5bd I know kotmj will disagree but i also checked out Binwani's in Jalan TAR and after lengthy negotiations, i was offered Scabal's 100's for 3.5 metres for RM800 from the original price of RM550 a meter. I am leaning to the fabric above though i need the suit fast. hence the Scabal is being considered. How long does it take for the cloth from British Fabrics to arrive here? "6" =i plan to have it fully lined as i have managed to procure emarzine from a friend in england. Anyway, as an introduction i plan to make a SB to attend corporate meetings. After reading 120 pages of this thread, coupled with kotmj's thread and various threads in SF, i have a basic understanding of what i want for my SB. Paid a visit to Ah Loke yesterday and was quoted a fair price. Told him what i wanted ie fully canvassed, high armholes, 3' padded horsehair lapels, horn buttons, a waisted jacket, sloping natural shoulders and many more. Was showed some fabric by Ah Loke but declined as i remembered kotmj's advice on procuring fabric from tailors. Would appreciate guidance from the sifus here as i still have a long way before i reach their level. Will definitely post the results of the jacket for any criticism or advise. |

That's a very good price for the fabric that you recommended kotmj. I'll consider it. Any opinions on the link for the cloth I posted?

i know...arghh...but confirm going to ALT this saturday...my gf is having her first fitting there..so interesting for ALT to make a womens suit using the specifications i gave for mens..except lapel which would be slim for my gf...
kotmj, i got the 8726 from them..though i ordered and paid for the 8953...to send it back would cost me...so i think im gonna use it...already called Rian Taylor and he told me he would refund me the balance... would you be in ALT this saturday kotmj? |

Went to AL today to commission my suit.gave him like 30 different instructions for the suit, he said it would take some time to execute all of it. But generally was a good session.my first fitting is next week and I'll provide pics.On a separate note, saw a FC SB made from 150's wool and cashmere.what caught my eye was how high the armholes were and the how broad the shoulders were. It was also very2 waisted which surprised me. Alas, the lapels were not padded and the quarters were not as open.

Hey guys, this is pics of my second fitting.for the front pic, i have decided to make it shorter by another 0.5' which can be seen on the right side.It seems that there is still bunching at the sleeves and the sleeves are also not clean.I have asked AL to address this and also the fact that my right shoulder drops which results in puckering and as such, i have asked him to adjust that also.Any other comments would be appreciated.

Hi guys.. appreciate your comments on this particular fabric selling on ebay.. Do you think what the seller is saying are true?..
He said.."....if this was sold as a retail item it would cost over £150 a meter if you could get it anywhere, the manufacture cost was £75 per meter before profit its a fantastic buy !!!! .." I'm just trying to get a little grasp on how to value fabrics sold internationally. For reference. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6mts-60-wide-ENG...=item2eb86e10ef Why dont you try British Fabrics on ebay or better still, order straight from Dugdales? From my experience with Dugdales, they are very reliable. If you want to feel the cloth, you can go to Ah Loke where he has the Dugdale books. |
