what type of paint is it? spray can? or acrylic? different paint type has different ways of removing.

if it is water based, soak it in window cleaner. if it is spray can, soak in brake fluid. dot 3

test on runner first if you have to be double sure it won't damage your plastic.

otherwise? use modelling thinner and wipe slowly, or sand all old paint off.

its a car, so you want to prepare it to be as smooth as possible before painting. no need to polish, but do sand it properly first. start with a 500 girt, then 1000 grit, and finally maybe finish with a 2000 grit.

prime it once, then if everything looks ok, go on with painting it rclxm9.gif

just to add, after soaking it in brake fluid, you will still need to use a toothbrush to scrub it a little bit. use gloves. brake fluid is nasty stuff!

So far have tried Anchor, TOA and Bosny and their finish is quite ok just it not as fine as those hobby spray. Also it not that different than spraying other stuff just don't get too close while spraying to prevent paint just botch on the surface making it thick.

thanks for the suggesiton...
yeah. basic rules of good finishing is always to have many thin layers..
could anchor be the best ?

another question, altho its a bit obvious...
some painted models i see have kinda shiny inner frames..
are those normal paint with gloss finish?
it really looks like its made of metal/steel..

Nope, it is not gloss coat.
It is achieved by using air brush using the right paints.
some paints give metalic/metal feel like Gaia series

RM100+ can get a Airbrush hand piece(the gun) but china brand type.
If you're in PJ then you can go to ICW to use their compressor(For free). A decent compressor would cost at least RM400...
To achieve metalic/metal feel, using air brush is the way to go because hand paint is unable to achieve the smoothness of the paint.
Although spray can have them but they might hurt your plastic OR over spray resulting thick layers

would not recommend this. You will still miss certain parts of the are that you need to spray.
Satay sticks are the way to go. Satay sticks aren't expensive. Get aligator clips or use blu-tac with them to hold your gundam parts.

For the above, after the paint dry, need to flip back all the parts & spray again one, so many wont miss.

Well, I just want to spray multiple parts at once rather than one by one, so any more ideas?

the reason why i don't recommend that method is because yes once you paint one side then you can flip the parts BUT there is the a risk where when you flip, the painted part's paint might come off due to the double side tape if you're careful.
The best is spray one by one rather than all at once. Yes, you can spray multiple parts depending on the parts then you can spray 2-3 together. smile.gif

It's a workshop where "us" modellers gather and do model kits or just hang out. The shop also sell tools and some kits, so it's much convenient for everyone who lives nearby. I don't mind giving you some fundamental skills as i'm teaching one of my friend. Do let me know. smile.gif
