As per topic title.

i am completing my HT system and only waiting to purchase a good subwoofer and its cable. Am aiming for Velodyne Impact 10 or Wharfedale SW150. Do you think i can get a cheaper price there? Any tips?

Its OK to get a 2nd hand set...but..just for info, after a few years of pumpin', most subs will decrease in its performance.

Also, you might look into more than 10inch subs as a single 10inch sub might not be enough for your basshead needs....some ppl. get a 10inch sub and expect miracle sub bass. If you oledi have full range floor standers, I would recommend minimum 12inch subs.

In my experience of runnin 2 active subs[one is abt 6 n another 3yrs old].. I dont feel any diminishin factor vis a vis wif subs age.. I hv heard of faulty amps/drivers causin cracklin/no sound but hvnt heard abt 'lower performance'..

If it is not being abused, the sub should be more mellow than a new sub since it is already 'conditioned'. Agree with dirtrun.

Even branded one will flap sooner if pushed to the limits most of the time.

Or do i need to go to some place like Amcorp Mall to find the 2nd hand sub?

Most 2nd subs are RM500 above....but you can still get a new no-brand 10inch sub for RM500.

Also, to get 2nd stuff...its best to surf Mudah.my, Hifi4sale and Lowyat garage sales....remember to test it out first..never believe the pictures or what they say in the internet.

You can also go to Cashconverter nearby your place...sometimes can find good stuff at low prices in there.

Its not d case of whether we wan to get 'pre-owned' gear.. I mean who in d right mind wants to buy used unless its for budget reasons.. buyin new gets u de 'new smell/feel' plus warranty if anyting were to go wrong.. buyin used gear is a calculated risk at best or a downrite gamble on d other end..

I haven't seen one (or I missed that out) 2nd hand sub on sale in KLIAV for as long as I remember. New units with 'exceptional' discount rate, yes esp for outgoing models.
