I need some advise / opinions from ATH users...
I tested a few headphones at Jaben .. narrow down my options to :- AD500 cos good sounding headphone, very comfortable (compared to other headphones) & good bass balance .... Budget : around RM500.00 My questions, What is the key differences between AD500 vs AD700 ? The price differences are quite big between the two... Primary usage : listen to music ( occasional for gaming ) with USB DAC from my macbook... Plan to DIY my own headphone amp later... Thanks in advance... |

QUOTE(stan001 @ Mar 27 2011, 03:31 PM) I need some advise / opinions from ATH users... AD700 what you tested is much more to virgin/new. AD700 can be go further/extend on bass more deeper and wider soundstage. AD700 is just a next step ahead for AD500. My Advise for entry level is AD300 > Then medium range =AD700 >more juicy and more extend till max > AD2000I tested a few headphones at Jaben .. narrow down my options to :- AD500 cos good sounding headphone, very comfortable (compared to other headphones) & good bass balance .... QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Mar 28 2011, 10:11 AM) tested that too, however really far out my budget, and the AD900 isnt too far behind the 1000, so settled for that instead. The different models.. when you compared them... what is the "differences" did you hear ? Don't feel like paying for "law of diminishing returns..." |

QUOTE(stan001 @ Mar 28 2011, 10:36 AM) The different models.. when you compared them... what is the "differences" did you hear ? like it or not, you WILL be paying for the law of diminishing returns, and thats the nature with almost every hobby.Don't feel like paying for "law of diminishing returns..." bottom line: AD1000 > AD900. however, i cannot afford the AD1000, thus i did not get it. the price is almost double for the slight difference (better clarity, sound staging, instrument separation etc) that isnt justifiable for the almost double price. then again, hobbies are NEVER justifiable imo. so at the end of the day, its what YOU decide. if you think the AD1000 or even 2000 is much better, and you HAVE to have it, however cant afford it, do save up. if you can settle for lesser like the AD900 like i did, you may do that too. in the end, its a hobby. one shouldnt stress out for it |

QUOTE(DaEMoNteNTAcLe @ Mar 29 2011, 04:04 PM) talking about ICE.. ill be frank. it is. for just about the same level of quality/returns, you need to pay 4 times more for ICE. then again, theres also *COMPLETE* home hi-fi setups (specialized sound proofed rooms etc, those are gonna cost you a friggin bomb) which are no doubt even more expensive than ICE.i really really regret not spending that 4k for my audio system... could've easily get damn good setup.. imho ICE is bullshit.. but again, that's preference, u see the value over there. and of course i would be able to see the value if im gonna spend DAMN LOTS of time in my car XD back/forth office also ~2+ hours a day (both way journey) multiply 5 days/week ~4 weeks/month etc. not counting other places i may go outside of normal office journey routines |
