QUOTE(sonixmedia @ Jan 17 2011, 01:16 PM) Hey all... Just bought ATH-SJ3 yesterday. I was looking for ATH T300 or T200 but after listening to the T200 and since T300 was out of stock, I discovered the t200 lack of bass. And After listening the SJ3 I get hooked. I just wonder if I make a correct decisions. Anybody else have try these models? thanks. invitation to be fxxk'd spotted!no. ur ears hear wrong. you are not supposed to like what u hear... is that what ur trying to say after buying it, or do you prefer people telling that you should not enjoy the sound you like? this kind of question float around so long it kinda doesnt make sense.. if u like what you hear, and u enjoy what u have, thats good. a lot of people have problem enjoying what was recommended to them, even if that IS the correct one.. |

QUOTE(sonixmedia @ Jan 17 2011, 06:23 PM) well thank you for your respond. rofl..The thing is... well on the second thought never mind thanks anyway... just so u know, out of all AT i've tried.. no matter how different the presentation is.. like, forward mids, more bass, bright, wide, etc.. otherwise they all still retains AT's same sounding. so if u tried any ATs.. u'll find the sound to be familiar. Im not so sure about their newer models, but i figure they'd want to keep their signature sound, since that's one major reason to prefer a brand anyways. the rest are just variations in model, renews, etc, especially on the entry / mid level phones. Japanese companies have a tendency to renew their product, kinda like an advertisment thingy telling the people that the company is still around and not went bankrupt. |

cant help to think u have fetish for AT 5 series..
haha.. well just find a comfortable position that gives good imaging (left right up down front back).. try watching racing movie or something. AD series / woodies driver are all angled, so that sound is projected properly to the ear and give good imaging and soundstage, something AT and senns have been doing since forever.. took beyer quite some time to realize and put it on their t1. |

QUOTE(Enigmatic @ Feb 16 2011, 09:26 PM) I can help you grab the pads but I've just ended a Japan bulk. aik...ini... saya.. ada.. tanya.. hari.. itu... huhu... Added on February 19, 2011, 11:27 pm QUOTE(jayxunned @ Feb 16 2011, 11:01 PM) Need help here, Someone is actually mislead one of my friend. I have introduce an AD-700 for him for a gaming purpose and that guy keep telling him that a Logitech G930 is far more better than AD-700 like how many times with those wide surround sound. I wonder Logitech is a closed headset, why would it be far better soundstage than AD-700? u dont tell.I was LOL hard for a moment. And he kept lecturing me about the Dolby Certified thing that G930 has and compared it to Cinema Dolby. I said man, you can't compare Cinema Sound to a headphone SQ. He still insist that G930 is better with 7.1 or those 5.1 effects. I know how to argue back, but is there anyway to stop him there and telling him that Logitech is making a marketing effort to deceive him? u let them hear.. QUOTE(awyongcarl @ Feb 20 2011, 07:40 AM) I have neither of these so I can't comment much but, for gaming, I would not recommend AD-700 lol. how many games actually have 5.1/7.1?I mean, yes, I know in terms of sound quality, AD-700 for sure is going to beat G930 like nothing. But when it comes to gaming, it is not necessary that a superior SQ headphone will be advantageous. If you ask me, I'd get G930 SOLELY for gaming purpose too, I mean well, it's tuned for gaming. And well, 7.1/5.1 on a headphone is basically a gimmick, depending on how good they emulate the surrounds. Sure, an Opened back headphone will have better soundstage than a closed, but it does not emulates the 5.1/7.1. It's still somewhat helpful in Games though, more helpful than an Audiophile headphone (Not to mentioned the Mic too), at least. Just like I don't game with my K701/HD800. (It just doesn't feel right, somehow) and how many gaming headphone actually have dedicated driver for the 5.1/7.1 channel? if its only software emulated 5.1/7.1.. might as well go full stereo, less burden on the pc, the soundcard, less requirement for headphone, similar capabilities. which makes me wonder.. how come headphone got .1? headphone dont have dedicated woofer for the .1 anyways.. >_< |

QUOTE(awyongcarl @ Feb 21 2011, 04:21 PM) Basically...all the new games nowaday have surrounds lol. nope..Yeah, good question there, to be frank I know nothing about G930 but I do think it has a built-in soundcard that is responsible to emulate the surrounds. Anyway..have you tried a 5.1/7.1 headphone before? While playing games like Dead Space/FEAR? It's something that we always laugh at these fake/emulated surrounds but if done right, it's way better than Stereo lol. i cant really play fps.. i got dizzy too fast its not even funny. i can play S4 tho, since its a 3rd person, and also since the 3d is sensible, not fish-eyed or boxed.. (reads unreal/quake based 3D engine). cant really test that, but can always test movies (real 5.1 dvd, 3 or 6 channel blu-rays..) i do know that listening to sounds alone, a 5.1 setup (i got 5.1 speaker) messed up the imaging with a single point bass sound.. no matter if you see the boom is from.. your right, behind, left, center, front, etc.. boom always comes from the subwoofer, wherever its positioned. not good for movies imho. also.. i found it very hard not to mess up the imaging of the sound, too close to each other, the sound overlaps, becomes fuzzy, etc. to far away and the sense of space is lost. angle and seat position plays a big role as well. i havent tried 5.1/7.1 headphone yet. i was actually told that roccat kave 6 driver headphone actually does better position imaging than that person's AD300. it also runs its own dsp to support its own multi driver, usb powered, can be turned off/on. drawback is throw sound quality and tonality out of the window. turning the dsp off improves the sound, but u lose the 3D. |

QUOTE(awyongcarl @ Feb 21 2011, 05:17 PM) Well, I guess the best thing would be still letting your friend to try them on. We all know, Opinions are best to keep to ourself. im not against u for using alienware..Personally I could care less about the SQ during a game as long as it doesn't go bad. I'm just going to concentrate on the game itself anyway, long as the headphone produces what's necessary and crucial. And the built-in Mic on these headsets are just handy, I suppose. (Go ahead and laugh at me, I am using Alienware TactX headset for gaming lol) if u found it good for ur use, then u r using the right tools for its purpose. im also curious how bad is the bias of opinion on these gaming headphones. i do know for the same price, audiophile branded stuff may give better music quality, but im not sure if i can say the same about gaming qualities. but if u ask my honest opinion.. a lot of things sounds bad to me already. call me drowned in musical abyss. |

QUOTE(stan001 @ Mar 27 2011, 03:31 PM) I need some advise / opinions from ATH users... my vote goes to ad500.. even tho i've never heard it, i would consider having 53mm driver as a bonus, and also it's said to be similar to ad300.I tested a few headphones at Jaben .. narrow down my options to :- AD500 cos good sounding headphone, very comfortable (compared to other headphones) & good bass balance .... Budget : around RM500.00 My questions, What is the key differences between AD500 vs AD700 ? The price differences are quite big between the two... Primary usage : listen to music ( occasional for gaming ) with USB DAC from my macbook... Plan to DIY my own headphone amp later... Thanks in advance... ad700 can be a little too light on the bass. QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Mar 28 2011, 02:56 PM) like it or not, you WILL be paying for the law of diminishing returns, and thats the nature with almost every hobby. bottom line: AD1000 > AD900. however, i cannot afford the AD1000, thus i did not get it. the price is almost double for the slight difference (better clarity, sound staging, instrument separation etc) that isnt justifiable for the almost double price. then again, hobbies are NEVER justifiable imo. so at the end of the day, its what YOU decide. if you think the AD1000 or even 2000 is much better, and you HAVE to have it, however cant afford it, do save up. if you can settle for lesser like the AD900 like i did, you may do that too. in the end, its a hobby. one shouldnt stress out for it here's another consideration, if my life involves a minimum of 5 hour a day for headphone, that extra 5% refinement in the sound is very pleasing after passing the 2nd hr listening.. our ears always grows tired on listening, better refinement helps relief some (lots?) stress to the ears. that's actually one reason why those who can justify the price of the expensive headphone are willing to pay for it. the more your listening capability improve, the more you will appreciate the minor refinement. |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Mar 29 2011, 01:47 PM) quote tag faild talking about ICE..anyways, in the end, regardless of the benefits or preference or opinions, you are still spending money, and depending on an individual, there are responsibilities and other priorities. expensive audiophile headphones are most certainly not a priority nor a necessity:) for my case, while my preferences were NEVER headphones, as i find having something over my head/ear for long periods just plain uncomfortable, thats the cheapest and best solution i can get for my home music listening (not to mention keep my neighbors content, rather than me blasting the G500 wwwwww) other than that, i will be using my car audio aka ICE i really really regret not spending that 4k for my audio system... could've easily get damn good setup.. imho ICE is bullshit.. but again, that's preference, u see the value over there. |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Mar 29 2011, 04:09 PM) then again, theres also *COMPLETE* home hi-fi setups (specialized sound proofed rooms etc, those are gonna cost you a friggin bomb) which are no doubt even more expensive than ICE. haha!this i like.. i've heard it, and im going there.. there are things that you have to hear to know the value.. after getting back from work.. tired, needed to rest.. then have something that really soothes ur mind, and emotion.. >_< unfortunately.. im already looking at 5 to 6 figure cash.. gonna be a long time till i have mine. :swt: |
