QUOTE(RyuKageX @ Aug 16 2010, 12:55 AM) got a noobie question, while listening through my laptop, I heard popping, hissing and sometimes lagging here and there throughout the whole song. windows 7?Im using Foobar2000(Plugins: dolby headphone crossfeed+tube+channel mixer)->.22 headphone amp ->ATH-ES10 Even if I use dolby headphone only (without the amp and the rest of the plugin), the same thing still happened. As for the dolby plugin, I need to use it or else the beatles flac will sound weird (ie: can only hear the vocal on the left and the instrument on the right) Is this because of recording (using flac) or is it the laptop headphone jack to be blamed? Or anyone have any solution for the plugin? Thanks in advance i suspect it is.. neways, u can try using other usb cable, preferably shorter.. see if that helps. |

QUOTE(xenohawk @ Aug 23 2010, 08:24 AM) Wah nice.. hehe want to try try and compare with my (I think 2k ESW9) with JPop at rxy gathering hehe... sure, would love to do a serious try on ur esw9.. i always thought of it as the most natural sounding woody.. too bad jaben sold off their last unit.QUOTE(fr0sti3 @ Aug 22 2010, 11:26 PM) hmmm for burn in process, just normal songs or have to use specific burning tracks ? (like those pink/white noise) since i replied a pm on this.. i'll put it here too..music is not a constant noise, its dynamic. it has variation.. it goes really high, and really low. there are some reports saying that using noise to burnin stress the driver a lot, in which i would agree, since it always force the driver to continuously produce all frequency range at the same time. some also reported a broken driver due to using noise for burnin. while i dont know whether it's valid or not, i dont want to take the risk. well take it this way.. a seasoned sofa, that people always sits and gets off, would retain it's shape even after few years, but becomes softer. but if u put a rock on the sofa for sometime, the sofa would have a permanent shape of the rock on the sofa, and the shape would retain even after quite sometime. now since the noise are almost constant.. it can be considered like a solid rock in the example above. i burn strictly using music, and my headphone have passed 2000hr, my woody2 have passed 1400hr.. with no problem whatsoever. i believe the variation in music is more needed to smoothen the drivers.. |

QUOTE(moniqee @ Aug 25 2010, 08:09 PM) imho stick with it..no point sidegrade, or minor upgrade.. i think at ad700.. better upgrade source first.. get good dac, later get good amp. then only tarus go flagship.. if not, improvement not really big.. since those top ones really needs good source and amping to push. |

QUOTE(rxy @ Aug 28 2010, 11:37 AM) Temporary owning AD 300. not burned enuff... i think.Just wanna give some brief comments bout it. Basically,it plays instrumental music very well. It can handle Celion Dion and Kenny G so good that I think it's really worth the price. But then I tested on Jacky Cheung on onboard audio, the vocal goes to background, probably it needs a better source? Heavy bass tracks is a no no for this headphone. I felt irritated after listening a very very short while to some modern songs that contain bass. Boom until headache. But the performance of bass is not that well for "Transformers" movie. Can't still give the impact. Overall,it still quite good for its price, even for the retail price. the bass takes time to cleanup. unless u prefer bass lite.. i find the bass just nice in quantity on ad300 |

how bass heavy?
if bass > vocals, mids, and trebles.. ad300 might not satisfy.. m30 might be better. if bass amount = vocals, mids = trebles.. then ad300 is ok. if bass amount >(LOTS)> vocals, mids, trebles.. then might be ws70. if u need isolation, m30. if u dont need isolation, ad300 if u need good 3D, ad300. i have not heard m30 myself.. but usually among the similar priced, open cans (sound can leak) are better at 3D positioning. closed cans (sound doesnt leak, more isolation) have better bass, positioning are usually slightly below open cans. for movies, i'd suggest open cans, ad300. if comfort, ad300, m30 might clamp hard and a hotter after sometime. oh.. u need to have as much sound balance as possible if u want to watch movies.. u dont want girls to have bassy vocals |

actually open cans are more natural sounding than closed.
the problem is more because open cans does not isolate.. u can still hear outside noise. 5.1 is messy and.. unless ur movies (most are stereo, except BD and some DVD) or games (most doesnt support 5.1) there's no point getting them. |

i heard es55 personally, quite good sound.. not really sure if i can call it bassy tho, coz i find it quite balanced and nice sounding overall that time.
and it's not ws70 bassy.. that one is for maximum earpounding. never heard fc700.. |

QUOTE(lincm @ Sep 20 2010, 12:57 PM) Thanks for the advice guys. if the amp cant cook eggs..THe A class monoblock amp Akabane sold, is that the DIY amp he has been using for his W5000? Can it run other phones as well? Can you share your experience as compare to yamamoto, I have tried with W1000x but not really mind blowing. it'll just be another amp.. wait until it's heated up.. then u'll find the class A stellar. yamamoto takes longer, tubes need to be flaming hot to sound nice. i cant compare those two since i heard them cold, except that they both sound similar.. |

haha..
no lae... out of all the akgs i tried so far... i never found akg as a good headphone, rather, just expensive priced headphone with self-claimed reference quality.. i would go for philips or sony anytime over akg. |
