well for ur lappy.. u can try using different driver for ur soundcards.. some drivers have those static problems..
u can also use external amps to filter out the hiss.. good amps would have lower circuit noise..
or.. u can use impedance adapter.. but they also alter the signature of ur headphones.. not sure if that's what u want.. and im not sure if that would stop the static sound..
otherwise.. use external DAC.. they shud have little to no circuit noise..

there's not much u can do to remove circuit noise except altering the hardware.
oh.. try adjust your volume control and lower your wav (usually the second bar) that might help with the hissing as well.

as for why LOD.. not all device have support to bypass the amp.. so even if u make an LOD.. if it doesnt bypass the internal amp.. theres no point having one..

i have a LOD for my fuze.. but im not really sure whether it does bypass the internal amps.. i do lost vol control.. the improvement is minor compared to ipod/iphone LOD.. so.. manufacturer's implementation here.

depends on what iems..
to me philips belongs to those categories.. (I am anti-philip? tongue.gif)
usually i have no problems..
but sometimes i need to take 2-3 days rest to be able to listen properly.. else everything would sound dull..
itch and pain are another problem i guess..

yep.. maybe i shud audition both first..
just now oso tried the darkvoice 337 tube amp... thx to Ikhwan..
it lacks the clarity of the rudistor.. but bass punch and vocals is superb......
so.. yamamoto shud have it's own strengh as well...

drawback wif the darkvoice is guy's voice like just been kick'd over 'there'... laugh.gif

it's really off..
the vtg already took out male vocals by itself..
u add the darkvoice.. which does the same...
so.. u get doh.gif laugh.gif rclxm9.gif

after all being said..
the hd650 + pcwork symphonia is beast.. it handles everything from music to orchestra to live performance to movies... etc.. anything.. quite well...

my vtg is limited to music.. cry.gif

omg... everyone seems to be pushing me to get Hd650 + pcwork's cable + Hippo amp...

well... i think i might aim tiz when i start working then...
*
u cant go wrong with this one...
probably the only one able to fight on par is w11jpn..
my vtg loses quite a bit in terms of texture and pinpoint accuracy.. but its not far off..
but that's already putting in my sound preference..

QUOTE
it is not fair that to compare ,
say vocal of ATH / stax omega to this HD650; sound stage of HD800 to HD650...; bass of DT990 to HD650...; high of sony SA5K to HD650..and just compare that alone..
it is true that if it is this case. HD650 will not far off different with them. but if compare to other section?
like Bass of HD650 to ATH vtg/ Stax Omega? dynamic pressure and pin point accuracies of HD650 to HD800? mid and low of HD650 to SA5K?
That's why as i said, in overall i highly rated this HD650 + re-cable. because it did almost everything well, if not best.
ouch kene tembak..
then i need to make restatement.........

when pushed properly...... <insert quote up there here...>

and yes u are very right about all the rest, also for the amping and all...
its just that i already tried my vtg on those setups, and for my musical needs, the vtg is already very satisfying........

u are also right about the vtg being boomy.. and very serious coloration.. true, but i like the color.. closed yes.. i chose the intimacy.. again i do admit that the vtg is not the best when it comes to details.. it loses hands down to detail monster such as sa5k or w1000x, it wont be able to fight stax fluidness.. even a normal stax is still very fluid... simply zero grain..

that being said and done.. i did say u can throw anything at the HD650 Pcwork Symphonia and it will handle it well.. very well in fact. I've never heard a headphone that sounds so realistic with movies, orchestras, or live performance.. it's simply stunning.. and i am considering of getting it for those needs, and for portability, but i would still listen to songs and orchestra with my vtg..

so yeah.. my opinion up there is very biased... and probably uncalled for.. either way all are high-ends cans.. possibly flagship level... some are very hard to push.. and the PcWork Symphonia is a unique piece of work that is very easily maxed in term of price / performance.

adding a few more..
on orchestra.. i would definitely say vtg would cloud a lot of details.. and not having female vocals.. it is very poor performer vs hd650.. but the coloration is preferable to myself.
i believe u are aware that i always compare my own experience when giving remarks?
thats y the racun can still tahan..

its a choice between 2 extreme.. one being near perfect overall.. it does not do anything wrong, and 1 catered specifically for personal taste.. it is not perfect, but favorable..

argh.. maybe i should kayu a hd650? doh.gif

hahahahaha..
not tembak lah..
just explain out the point that should take into consideration...

anyway.. i really like HD650 and the cable
even until now i can't believe i did that myself..
=.=
*
im not sure how unbelievable u think u are..
i think it's even more unbelievable for me to use hd650 and find it soo relaxing and nice sonically... optimus speaks himself personally! shocking.gif tengok wayang baru dapat.. itu pun tak clear camni..
i can never tahan hd650 sound.. so i never gave it a serious listen.. until after u got ur cable out on day 1.. just to know the difference in sound vs stock cable..
it is HUGE..
i think the stock cable robs the senns about 40% of it's capability.. sweat.gif
but worse.. i think i can only take out 30% of my vtg capability with Pmod + w1... good amp can push to 70%...
neways.. im already thinking that if i have to spend more than 3k.. instead i'd get a powerful portable amp.. maybe diy.. + the hd650 + ur cable...
should i book early? blush.gif

but deep down.. i know that i will be getting a yamamoto ha-02 to complete my brain damage rclxm9.gif
