Wasn't the Mayan who indicate 2012 as end of the world but end of their calender, check your digital watch or handphone and see how long they can lasts? Try change the date to year 3000 to 5000. Most electronics has maximum date setting and the previous y2k suppose to be end of computer calender but the computer didn't die.

If the earth's destruction is set, something told the Mayan but not others, why tell the Mayan? So that they don't continue to populate?

2012 is the begin of human evolution, not the end. Scientist predicted more nature crisis will happen, and we mankind will go through that shit and overcome it. Just like what japanese is doing now.
