Digi's mobile coverage is the worst among the three. If you travel a lot - don't ever choose Digi else you'll regret like hell. Some urban areas still have poor signal.

I waited for so long the launch of Digi 3G in other parts of Malaysia other than Penang n Klang Valley of and the excuse given - Digi wan't to concentrate om Iphonr launch 1st WTF.

Maxis never cap their speed on their mobile internet and broadband - 7.2mbps all the way! Unlike Celcom and 3G. Never felt so much freer than before.

Maxis have talktime sharin among principal and supp lines - a better choice for business lines.

Digi is overrated like Anvar, Iphone and Myvi.

DiGi indeed has poorer signal reception compared to other Telcos..
I think the best coverage is Celcom, followed by Maxis~
Maxis no cap speed, but cap data usage..
DiGi cap speed, but unlimited date usage~
So, which want you prefer?

Maxis can share talktime~
DiGi free calls to subline~
Unless you do big business, then go for the business plan lol~

Long story short, each Telco has advantage and disadvantage~
Therefore, Choose the one you like and end of story LOL~

here are my remarks on maxis and digi postpaid billings. i only say the bad stuff i noticed though...

maxis
i have applied for a the main line plus 2 supplementary lines. when the bill arrived, the talktime sharing isnt fully implemented in the bill. what i mean is 1 of the supplementary has this 30rm rebate all by itself and another row which says 66rm (out of 80rm) rebate which is for the other supplementary +main line sharing. so that means that they shortchanged 14rm as the 1st supplementary used 50+ which could be covered by the remaining of the 66rm. went to maxis to have them correct it and they said will rebate me back the mistake on their part, hopefully.

digi
had a friend who makes calls frequently on her line. however the bill when arrived shows entries of previous months with some even up to 6 months ago. i have checked those entries with previous months bills and they seem to be valid knowing her usual call patterns. it seems that the billing system of digi has a tendency to miss some of the current month call entries which they will then show up on next month or later when the system finally captures that particular entry. that is why my friend was charged cheaper for the initial months but it gets more expensive as the months goes by when the system keep recalling past entries of the previous months into the current one.

seems that both digi and maxis have their flaws isnt it ts?

does that mean that their line quality will be automatically worse as there are more subscribers for the celcom main line? anyway i still dont know why celcom does not want to change the ancient exec20 access fee to maybe 30 commitment like the others.
i am not against celcom, btw

No they're not. They're MVNOs i.e. telcos on their own but leasing other people's (in this case Celcom) capacity. U Mobile is not exactly an MVNO though, as it has its own 3G infrastructure. Only its 2G capability is made possible by (by leasing from) Celcom; in July 2010 U Mobile will switch to DiGi to provide its 2G capability.

I been a Maxis Customer b4 and i dislike thier service. Sorry. Hate it alot. They are super extremely Money Making Company.

Been a Digians for almost 8 years now. No regret. From pre paid to post paid to iphone plan. i think they corporate governance are more trust worthy compare to the others which is back by the gov!

People work hard to achieve something with so much red tapes. Where else other two are given spoon feeding by our BiG papa.

Furthermore..wondering why lotsa Digi dupporter said their 3G so good when I contantly getting DC in Puchong area & speed never exceed 400kbps..On Maxis i can be as high as 2000kbps..

1) Those who said their coverage is good is not necessarily dg supporter or fanboys. Stop generalising.
2) If they said good, then it is good for them.
3) Not all dg users staying in puchong. So other areas may have better 3G coverage than puchong

4) What internet plan for Dg are you using?
5) Maxis is 2000Kbps? No way. Continue dreaming.

DiGi is sponsoring on this section. Will you say, "no I don't want your money. LYN can survive without any sponsorship. I have my own money to fork out to maintain LYN server"?
Come on. Be practical. That doesn't mean they are pro to DiGi.

Huhu, did you saw that? You are testing with a KL server. Try to test with an overseas server to get a more realistic result. Btw, what Maxis package are you using?

Too bad then. Your area has poor coverage for 3G (DG). I would advise to switch because keeping it & complaining about it is not going to help any further.

Yeah I know about the advert part..DIGI really hard on advertisement & din u realised that I'm a moderator too here & yet I bombard it haha!

I can'y switch bcos it's a company line haha..I was an Digi customer since 1994 when they just lauched for the 1st week!...That time resally bad coverage compare to Celcom. Thereafter I switched over to Celcom & wow..everywhere also damn clear but too bad they screwed up on my billing..So I terminated them after only 6mth & using Maxis since late 90' till got asked to MNP to digi..haizzz..now started again...DC here & there..Port Klang Shah Alam & once a while in PJ & most of the time @ Puchong..

Yeah Puchong 3G for Digi really bad..Maxis used to be bad too during 2007-2008 here but improved last year. problem wth Maxis is their stupid capping..U can only surf but no heavy downloading...esp those on 1,5Gb, & 3GB lines..

For me 1.5GB & 3GB not enuf..atleast 5GB/mth as my avg already 1.2GB per week just on normal surfing.. So I hv no choice but to change to their 6GB line which is not cheap! RM98 but after minus RM30, Only been chartged RM68..Currently on the 2mth using them back...pretty OK right now,,haha..but dunno how long can last...All BB in Mal;aysia will suffer all this problems wan once ppl switching from one BB to another!

The best still streamyx whcih I used at home..constant 1600kbps..

BTW..Test Oversea..US:

Well, Telco changed & so do their quality..Years ago...yes..Maxis got lotsa bombardment & etc esp the number of subscribers & the congested 3G lines...They started investing heavilly ~2008 & setup more towers & etc + limiting 3G packages & thus kill-off potential torrenters & right now...here's the independent result...:

I recall back to the old days

Time Telekom - best place to receive or make calls - North-South highway

Digi, Maxis and Celcom - no difference where. Either the telco tower signal area full or not.

jumped from maxis to digi because maxis is screwing up their call quality and sms services even on GSM signals. because of maxis, i nearly brokeup with my girlfriend. so far so good on digi. low reception but their 3G is insanely fast!

sometimes people don't get it...
usually when you send sms/mms...
you can always check if it's "pending" or the message "successfully" going thru...
and normally people will just press the send button and never bother to check the report...

Agreed. In fact, DIgi network is not as wide as maxis, in some area where there is no digi line, but maxis line is available. But since I have used digi since my first use, I also lazy want to change it la. And I heard that most Sabah and Sarawak citizens are using digi (including me) since the line here is more stable here. And most west malaysia's citizens use celcom/maxis rather than digi is because the digi network at west malaysia is not as wide as celcom/maxis. But since I am not staying west malaysia, not a problem to me rclxms.gif

Just converted from Maxis to Digi. The result?

1. At home, I used to have problem with maxis, but now with Digi, full bars. WOW! rclxm9.gif

2. At the office. Unfortunately, the story went south. From good reception to really poor and sometimes no line at all. Well good excuse for not getting any call from boss. doh.gif Just kidding.

But then, my analysis shows:

1. At home, I check my Android base phone and realize the connected network type is UMTS. Is a 3G. Cool and full nars too. Never get that. Maxis gave me one bar at home and the signal strenght can be as low as 100+dBM and 1-2 asu. DIGI gave me as high as 60+dBM and 20asu. WOW.

2. At the office, I notice the network type is EDGE. The signal is like Maxis at home. 100+dBM and 1-2 asu. But, it fluctuate and can go to zero for both.

So whats going on with EDGE? I copy this from the net.
"The catch is that EDGE requires higher radio signal quality than that found in an average GSM network before higher data throughput can be reached. This means more base stations (especially indoor) and infrastructure build-out for established GSM operators that wish to migrate to EDGE"

http://www.umtsworld.com/technology/edge.htm

So... I guess at my office, there is not enuf base stations especially indoors. Unless, one day, that area is with UMTS... my problem solve.. I hope. tongue.gif

Roaming charges are a little different, bro. It takes about 3 days before roaming partner operators revert with the exact amount of charges back to digi. Hence, you could rack up quite a large amount of $$$ before you realise it.

I think this is the same across all telcos.
