He will score two own goals, and Drogba will take care of the rest. After that Gudjohnsen will become one of the richest people in the universe.

at what age did solskejaer retire from playing football? i wanna compare it to the on-going class of 94s who are still playing for man utd and milan...
*
From Wiki:
Date of birth 26 February 1973 (1973-02-26) (age 37)
On 27 August 2007, Solskjær announced his retirement from football after failing to recover from a serious knee injury.[3] However, Solskjær remained at Old Trafford in a coaching role, as well as in an ambassadorial capacity. On 20 May 2008, Solskjær was announced as Manchester United's first full-time Reserve team manager since 2006, taking over from Brian McClair and Jimmy Ryan, who had filled the role in a caretaker capacity. He also supervises a training academy for young footballers in his home town of Kristiansund.

He was 34.. I think.

Why are we being heavily linked with Milner? Some say it's already a done deal? He was a decent player. Nothing special down the wings. This season he started more down the middle.. but I haven't seen much of him to comment much. But surely if we do go for someone in the middle, it has to be someone with the abilty of Scholes to ping passes around.

Perhaps Fergie is looking at someone who can provide the kind of versatility that can be useful at times? Milner can play on either flanks and has been doing well in the middle this season. He even played as fullback for Villa as well.

Another JOS in the making, just that he is technically much better than JOS  biggrin.gif

I dunno. We have plenty of options out wide. We have 3 + Tosic, Obertan, Giggsy, Welbeck. But we could definitely use some help down the middle with Carrick being off form, Hargreaves affairs with nurses, and Giggsy and Scholes getting on. I'm just not sure Milner is the man for the kind of class we should be looking for in the middle(Scholes replacement, although maybe we still trust Anderson to grow into that role). He would be a very dependable player tough, much like Carrick and Valencia have been since their move here. We could do with another one of those. But he would be really expensive. 25m easily.

Agree somewhat with that. As a squad player, is fine I think. But given our uncertainty in that CM positions, we should do better.

If he can last for another minimum of 4-5 years whilst still being among the top, why not? But no way should we pay to get him and include Vida in the deal. It should be the other way round.

Added on April 18, 2010, 9:51 pmBut 30m? No way. Around 15m would be fine. VDS was a steal at 2m.

we rarely buy players from top teams in top leagues like bpl, la liga, serie a and bundesliga.. last one was hargreaves, and maybe anderson and nani if u consider porto and sporting lisbon.. that was nearly 3 years ago
*
It's rare for top players at top teams to move to another top teams unless they're not wanted anymore or just plainly money can't resist offer on the table.

QUOTE(aztechx @ Apr 24 2010, 05:03 AM)
at the moment we do need established players to come into the club..we cant depend on the likes of macheda or obertan YET..if we were to use the approach of using home grown players all the time,we will end up being like arsenal..yes it is good to have youngsters coming up the ranks but they would be absorbed slowly into the team..in the mean time, the established players will provide us the form and goals..
*
Question is who though? Defensive department is sorted for now. Wingers sorted and unless we sold anybody upfront, strikers won't be a priority too. Don't think we'll sell Berba unless we got a ridiculous offer for him. We could do with another CM or a couple more. It's a bit of a problem since whoever we bought must be able to comfortably play in a 2 CM setup. Modric would do nicely.. but he would cost a bomb and if Spurs get 4th, there's no way they gonna sell him. Milner might be a good buy for the squad, but this time we should be looking to add to the 1st team, unless he would step up massively in the next few years. Carrick should grow a pair and not hide in games. This season he's been a bit disappointing.

QUOTE(alien2003 @ Apr 24 2010, 11:07 AM)
The thing about not getting a new striker is that who is going to get the goals if Rooney is not scoring/not available? Berbatov has yet to convince the fans about his scoring consistency. We had seen how bad we missed Rooney's presence in those matches like Chelsea/Blackburn. With the likes of Chelsea & Man City looks set on a shopping spree this summer, their squad will only going to get better & stronger.

The likes of Macheda,Welbeck,Diouf & the pending arrival of Chicarito has yet to prove that they will able to score consistently thoughout the season plus they are still quite the inexperience one as well.
*
Even with him in the side, we didn't look too pretty against Chelsea earlier on in the season. We were looking good in the 2nd half carving them open until we went with 442. We should have waited a bit more and see where that would have taken us.

We have too many options down there.

Roo-Berba 1st choice as of now until thing changes.
Owen
(we can count them all as one, options)The Mexican, Macheda, Welbeck, Diouf

Owen is backup while the other are still unproven. But we wouldn't have brought that Nachos kid in if SAF thought we needed another 'sure' thing for that position. We would have just skip him aside and went for a proven striker instead. We'll see how he does in the coming weeks with Mexico playing a million friendlies before the WC. He might be that guy we're looking for. Can't see us sell Berbatov unless someone came in with around 25m for him. But even then we need to replace his creativity.

QUOTE(Sheep319 @ Apr 24 2010, 11:15 AM)
PRESENT!? WHERE!?

But anyway.

The only best thing for SAF to do is to, sadly, get a new striker. More consistent. This and last season, we've been depending on our midfielders (Ronaldo and co) to score.

Even this season, even abang OG manages to top the score chart which is worrying.

I don't think SAF would even give Welbeck, Macheda, Diouf a chance. I can see SAF prefers a 4-5-1 with Berbatov up front EVENTHOUGH WE ALL KNOW IT WONT WORK.

In my mind, the reason why SAF picked 4-4-2 for the match after Chelsea was because he scored. That's why he selected Macheda in the formation, but then suddenly it didn't work for Macheda.

What happened to Diouf? So called will be involved in the first team.

EDIT: Sometimes what I think right now SAF has turned into a wily ol' scot, literally. Raging here and there.
*
Macheda only recently just came back from injury though. If not he would have played more. Welbeck was loaned out while Diouf is 'settling in'(or not good enough tongue.gif).
