My cq40 also same problem, can't boot (intermittent & now getting more frequent
 ), cap & num blink one. HP tech web indicate its CPU problem.will try send to HP since still warranty  Was told by a fren from HP, the CQ 4x model bunch of similar issue, LCD & AMD CPU.. |

within 3 working days, I got my Compaq CQ back
 CPU replacement. I would say pretty fast |
