QUOTE(cuebiz @ Jan 30 2015, 09:23 AM) you mean "chen yuan hao"? yes. but delivers the quality also. these days rm1/1g is really not impossible due to currency exchange and rising standards of farmer's living. pure old tree tea leaves are always premium. can't imagine 10yrs down the road. |

QUOTE(ndgoh @ May 8 2013, 08:20 PM) OOhh... I'm not well informed on Dayi's history... my bad... Just saw this photo while reading the thread. Hope it's not too late to find out Lol. This pu erh shall be produced between 1980 before 1985. Here's the very old 38yrs Dayi... You all think its genuine? Anything to look for to prove its authenticity? Later after I finish the project with my brother, will post the puerh and tea pot collection here... You'll be amazed! Few details to identify: 1. Meng Hai factory only starts producing green stamp in 1980. 70s is yellow stamp. 2. they started to use thin paper for wrapping in 80s 3. From the word on top Yun 雲 & Cha 茶, and the word at the bottom Zhong 中 & Si 司. Four of this words has slight difference after 1985. Hope my judgement is correct |

Pu is nice but I seem to lock on to the Oo Long flowery taste If Taiwan high mountain lagi But lately forced into Ti Kwan Yin. Friend went to China and Taiwan, requested buy Oo Long but he ended buying Kwan Yin and lots of it. So now getting my Kwan Yin pot to shine like my Oo Long pot. |

QUOTE(quikstep @ May 19 2015, 03:48 PM) old pu-erh will loose the fragrance and that's natural. try top grade new thousand year old tree pu-erh Try well kept 20+ years raw Pu (must be raw, you got con if its ripe 20year old Pu). Loses fragrance because some idiots keep one beng for 20 years and think they strike it rich already, proper way to keep is keeping it with lots and lots of other Pu. One day I go to my friend's warehouse again I take a photo to show you what I mean. Its like wine. Must be kept well and correctly, bro.Old tree raw Pu still hard to drink if still young. For raw Pu, I think the minimum you have to keep is still 8 years (maybe 6 if kept here). Sorry I don't drink ripe Pu. Oo Long is way different. Drink it while it is fresh. Once open its a rush to finish it. Oh ya I drink raw Oo Long not the ripe ones. I like the green colour, raw young Pu is also greenish. Actually young Pu is very hard to drink. Need time to mellow out the taste and for it to show its true character. As it ages the colour darkens and after more than 10years it starts to look like the ripe Pu colour. The ripening process is artificial. You never get the true taste and character of the Pu. But then due to the high demand that is the only way to produce enough for the masses. Hence the high price of raw aged Pu. Go try you will like it. Advise: don't go to shops to try old Pu. Try from collectors. You get better Pu. Shops they have to make money so they will sell anything (from personal experience) |

QUOTE(quikstep @ May 19 2015, 09:57 PM) QUOTE(patryn33 @ May 19 2015, 10:15 PM) How to get stuff from collectors if cannot go shop? The key is networking. Where to buy locally or overseas? Please share contact info Is there still high demand for tea? I read a lot of farmers are converting to coffee as they bring home more money True story here. One of my secondary school seniors kept Pu from his form 5 days. Just last year he took it out to finally give it a taste. We were surprise, was pretty good actually since he bought it for only rm 5/beng. Now that tea is about 15years old now. He is not a trader just a collector and a tea lover with a huge wallet. You like Pu you will like his collection now. About one warehouse full now. My boss on the other hand is also crazy about tea. And he buys mostly expansive teas. Hence my opportunity to sample those too. Having said that, my preference is still Taiwan high mountain Oo Long |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ May 20 2015, 06:52 PM) Your story didn't really indicate networking, but more by chance. Nah I was blessed with having a boss who introduced me to wonderful tea and more importantly teached me how to appreciate good tea. Then a schoolmate whom I never would have guessed to share this passion and started at such a young age.Networking - where to go network? If stores owner not reliable. How to go about finding such person? Your tale tells me go buy now and store them and wait For you I would suggest that the next time you are at the shop sampling tea, be more friendly with other customers than the sales girl or boss. Who knows, you might meet others who are truly passionate about tea. I found most of my other kaki's this way. Once you have the network then you will start to get your exposure to really good tea. Put it this way, humans like to show off. If you have a group of them then surely they will be showing off among themselves. Do remember this BTW, good tea might not be expansive and expansive tea might not be good because there are so many factors involved. That is why when you find good tea stop everything and just enjoy the tea. |
