Officially supported: most of the commonly available formats except MKV

It'll probably be easier to just put your movies into your PC and stream it to your xbox360 from there.

You can use WMP or Media Center to stream the files.

If you want to stream unsupported formats to your xbox, get Tversity.

HDD question, I dont know.

XBOX detects all external storage media but max capacity is capped at 16GB only.

if you want an 250GB HDD, butcher one or buy official HDD.

i think for video playing not really the case, the 16gb capped is only for storage usage only i think

last time (b4 the update) i plugged in my 200gig partitioned hdd, it recognize it, and i can play all of the supported movies files from there
maximum supported size? dunno tongue.gif
haven't tried since the new update
let me try again tonight to see if it's still works.

oh, sorry my bad.

the HDD must be in FAT32 format and not NTFS.

Theoretically FAT32 can go to 137GB (based on Windows98/ME limitation on formatting FAT32) and more if you have other way to format it other than M$ based.
