jamesies : I own the same lens as you. The KM 28-75 f/2.8, at f/3.5 would be quite sharp for a single person portrait photo, you don't have to go up to f/8.0. IDC = Sony Image Data Converter which comes in package when you bought your A300 or download it from the web.

Banzai_san : Is the ceiling high? If it is, don't bother to do make a ceiling bounce. Just use a bounce card will do; and if you're beside a wall (if the wall is not dark in color), do a light bounce on the wall instead.

Do NOT get the 28-75mm f2.8 SAM if you think that 18mm on your APS-C is not wide enough.

Although it is a FF lens and can be used on both FF and APS-C body, the 28mm on an APS-C will give you an angle of view that is 42mm.

For those of you who are not sure what I am talking about, turn your kitlens almost to the 50mm mark and look through your viewfinder. If you can live with that being the widest you can go, then you can consider getting the lens.

Just because it is a f2.8 constant aperture lens does not make it a good lens for you. If it does not suit your needs, the f2.8 constant aperture counts for NOTHING. Ditto for 24-70mm f2.8 lenses. Anyone of you guys with APS-C body thinking of getting that focal length, turn your kitlenses to 36mm, tape it there and use that for one week at least without removing the tape. If you can live with that, then you can get the lens.

last time his colleague was in KL, so i passed my A100 to him. then when my friend went there to pick up his converted D90, i asked him to picked mine too. lol.

RaplaJingga in alphanatics sent his A350 to Dr. Ali as an experiment and Dr. Ali have successfully made the conversion. since then, Dr. Ali started converting Sony alpha for IR, other than Canon and Nikon. A300 and A350 doesn't differ much except for megapixels, so i guess it's ok to send your A300 for conversion
