Eddy, no, the shutter count does not effect the shutter button or vice versa. if it gets really bad, send it in for a quick servicing, or if you're game enough, find a suitable screwdriver and open up the top panel and clean the button yourself, could be caused by a build up of dust and grime. |

freaky: what do you mean by casual lens? aperture values aside, wouldnt your 18-200 already cover the range that the 17-70 is covering?

freaky: are you somehow using your lens in a wrong way? (highly unlikely) its more likely that if that's the case, your lens might have some problem
