i guessed as much you're refering to the last pic... if u see, the subject is the girl, and i did not use any flash in street photography. to expose for the face would mean that i need to spot meter on the dark face, thus definitely will overexpose the bright lights from inside the shop.
for the sotong pic, same rule applies, just that it is not as obvious as the girl's pic ISO 800 for most of the night shots yeah its sakura! thanks This post has been edited by lwliam: Apr 23 2010, 01:07 AM |

yes, the 9000 (not 900) is an SLR, thus the FF capabilities... and its a very rare specimen.

QUOTE(eddybeh @ Apr 25 2010, 11:09 PM) wanna bring some noob topic. it's about flashguns. wat i understand is flash oni light up the subject once u press the shutter but then it doesn't enable u to use faster shutter speed. can i say like tat? eddy, from what i read, you're using full manual for shots you have not known how to control. using flash does not mean you will freeze ppl's movement. as a quick guide, use 1/30s as a base speed. if nothing to bounce from, there's no harm using direct flash, and if the flash is not in manual mode, it will 98% get a correct exposure with its ADI/TTL. i would only control my flash's power when i'm using M mode and did a quick test shot to see if the exp is correct and then adjust the flash power accordingly. i've got quite many blur shots in a ballroom with my kitlens n my flash set to 1/32 power. my iso ad pumped to 800. my shutter most of the shots need 0.8 sec to get well lit. When ppl move a bit the pic blur ad. ppl keep on asking me y blur but i dunno how to answer... XP another option when there's nothing to bounce from, is to use a bounce card. diffusers work too, but if once distance exceeds about 2-3 meters, the light will be too diffused to reach the subject (if using the default ADI mode) HSS only works if the flash is pointed directly forward or in WL mode. experiment more (when the shots you're taking are not at stake) |

i normally HSS when i intend the flash to be fill-flash, thus daytime. then i can use a high shutter speed to underexpose the background while keeping the subject well lit.
its useful for macro work in WL mode as well, background will fall into darkness and the lighting is pretty dramatic from the off camera angle. Added on April 26, 2010, 12:37 amMo0, so jadi ka? today's TT? This post has been edited by lwliam: Apr 26 2010, 12:37 AM |

kytz, its not really comparable, 1stly, its different in terms of sensor size, ISO-wise, aps-c will most likely take the lead. other than that, i'm not sure about the LX, so no comments there..
eddy, nope, never had that problem. |
