Maybe the 16-35mm just causes people to move slightly due to its weight, LOL!

He was not using AF-C. That is not what AF Microadjust does - it's to correct for aperture-related focus shift and other cases where due to optical complications the AF unit brings the lens to front/backfocus. If he got it in focus correctly, and locked focus, and moved back, that is user error already!

had to reread that to fully comprehend ahahaha.

QUOTE(albnok @ Apr 22 2010, 02:56 PM)
Also, have you maximized your camera?

I say, I have not maximized my A900. Why? Because it has the potential to print LARGE. Huge like walking-past-floor-height in KLCC tunnel LARGE.

I haven't gotten to the level where I have clients with budgets where I can afford to have a make up artist, hairstylist, art director (and me, to press the shutter.) The A900 was designed to be a studio camera for making high-resolution prints. You can even print a billboard with it!

The biggest I've ever printed is 30x20".

Sometimes I look at pictures I took 4 months ago, and think "hmmm, I could've done better." And I keep thinking that whenever I look back. There is still so much to improve or make better, or a different angle to shoot, or a different expression to express.

So, long way for me to go.
*
long way for you to go, even longer for us. laugh.gif

anybody knows whether the tamron 1118 is good enough for group portraiture or should i just stick to the sony 1118? itching to get an UWA now, or are there other UWAs available? how bout the sigma 10-20? tak nak samyang 8mm though, really niche lens tongue.gif

kev da man: Sony 11-18mm F4.5-5.6 DT = Konica Minolta 11-18mm F4.5-5.6 DT = Tamron 11-18mm F4.5-5.6 DT. The coating might be different.

The Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 HSM is interesting; so is the Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 and the Tamron 10-24mm F3.5-4.5.

tell me about it. all three finalized choices cancels each other's strengths and weaknesses out to make it a choice between a jap girl from osaka, a jap girl from tokyo or a jap girl from yokohama rolleyes.gif

but doesn't it will keep letting the dust in through the body everytime you change the lens O^O ?
*
well, from my experience changing lenses in the middle of a drift track with tire smoke circling me, the only thing that matters is you keep your rear caps on your lenses, swap it as quickly as possible and of course, change the lenses with your back towards the wind. at the end of the day, i just breakout the lenspen after every event or two, still okay.

in fact, try counting the number of dust spots in this image wink.gif =

wow, pic 3 and 4 (f8???) so obvious ur unit has BF issue, ALL lens?????? or specific? could it be focus shift like albnok always talked about?

on ALL lenses, not only backfocus, front focus as well doh.gif
i currently have;
16-80
75-300
50f18
18-55 SAM
16-35CZ

sometimes front, sometimes back, can see in 1/10 shots, MF no problem. the kicker is that the same set of lenses work perfectly fine on my a200 and another a850 laugh.gif

freaky_deity : Wow such a large photo file. Well it's pretty noisy and underexposed at some places though. And the bokeh abit weird for my liking.
*
looks like DRO advanced level 3 to me. hence the underexposed, low contrast look + noise even at ISO200.

from http://www.junjunriko.com/2010/04/guys-who...fair-girls.html

They do not work for the brand.
They are not professionals.
They do not get paid for the photographs.
They do not buy products from the brand.
They do not know the show girls.
Some barely even know how to take decent photos with a DSLR.

wah so mean.... sweat.gif

haha.but u can't expect them to credit every photos taken right?unless the photo is for some major event or front page cover. laugh.gif
*
the writer should credit the photos appropriately. its basic reporting 101

QUOTE(albnok @ Apr 30 2010, 02:01 PM)
zstan: Congratulations. No, you must insist on credit, since they are not paying you.

I've had enough of NST's unprofessionalism (they misquote me, or create a quote because my quote on a certain matter was "not interesting enough".) Sure the people who did that are no longer there, but it's still a terrible thing to do.

Meanwhile, about the newspaper that published your picture:

They could, and should, pay some photographer, or their staff photographer, to go there and shoot - they can claim mileage for travelling from office to press conference and back. They even get a credit line. They don't use their own camera, they take the office camera and pro lenses, which is covered under office insurance.

You don't even claim anything from them, you bring your own gear at your own risk of being elbowed by other photographers (and breaking/dropping gear), and you give it to them for free, and they don't even credit you!

The other problem with this is, you're denying their staff photographer a chance to do their job and get paid for it. If they can't get paid because you've done it for free, you can see in the future that nobody will ever get paid for photography.

If you've done a better job than their staff photographer has (why else is your picture there?), then you're worth more to the newspaper than the staff was!

kev da man: Don't let that happen to you! They do have a space for credit line so they should credit you.

QUOTE(shootkk @ May 3 2010, 01:23 PM)

To give an example, you're shooting with a 50mm prime on full frame, trying to get pictures of showgals in PC Fair. You know you cannot zoom so you have to move to get the best angle. Do you want a high angle or low angle shot? Do you want to include the background? Half body shot or just face shot? All these questions have to be addressed before you even look through the viewfinder.

did that on an aps-c and i felt like buying barriers for all the kambings around that were stepping on me in the ballroom laugh.gif
