Sweetpuff,

Are you from Digi? Im getting a bit frustrated with Digi CS lately. Can you please verify this for me.

Digi CS told me I cant have Digi 50 coupled with Smart Plan 68 under the same number. Why lar? If can bundled Internet Unlimited 58 then why push away customer who willing to pay RM10 more but just wanted to get discount on the phone. DAMN!! My usage is lower than RM50 somemore, like RM30++ but I dont want change to Smart Plan Only cos have to change supplementary line package.

damn.. and i thought digi would get the htc desire first before maxis does.. since i have waited this long might as well wait another four weeks.. not really in a hurry..

I think Digi make the right choice. I too was unsure whether I wanted a Iphone or Android phone. Android phone rebate is nice but its better still to wait for Iphone 4 to roll out.

@sweetpuff
Thanks for clarifying for me. Just change my plan to smart plan. I will try it out for a month while waiting for Digi to release Desire. On the other hand, I wonder if Digi can beat Maxis cos from what HTC staffs been telling customers during Maxis Desire launch, SRP seem to be 2,399 compared to Maxis SRP of 2,199.

Meanwhile I will assess how Digi data fare while waiting for it. Seem like Digi rolling out portable 3G router called MIFI. I wonder if it will be sucessful bcos most Digi data user are heavy user. Thats why they rather get throttle than pay more.

I don't think it's wise to get a plan without a phone, unless you can't afford one or already have one of the most sought phone like Iphone etc. Smart Plan works for some of us whereby our call usage is low and therefore the huge subsidy is enough to cover the base cost of RM 68 for more than a year. Probably will get Legend if Digi decides to walk over Desire.

If still no show from Digi, I guess many will jump ship over to Maxis. It might be a good thing as less user = less congestion. Anyway, I'll still wait another month and if still no show, then will consider Iphone4 with whichever telco that release it first.

one question from me
If i sign up the smartplan now (no phone, no contract) and when new model of hp are roll out then can i retain my existing number and straight change to contract and get the subsidized hp?
*
Yes, that would be the case. You are not bound by the contract if you didn't take the phone offer. That's what I did last month. It has replace Streamyx but I still has to rely on it for downloading movies and internet banking.

Generally, Digi uses standard sim card for call plans as well as data plans. I'm on digi smartplan on top of my DG50 call plan. At home, I insert my sim card in Zte model and its works just nicely. Just make sure the network setting is correct and you're ready to go. happy.gif

Different number issit? It is impossible to have Smart Plan + DG50 since they are both call plan.

haha.. i am also family man with 2 small kids.  Always kena nagged by wife for too much BC2.  laugh.gif

coz if sign up for plan - RM68 monthly then it will be better for me to sign up Maxis plan coz retail price is about RM2,099.  If RM2,099 - RM1,499=RM600 / RM48 per month for Maxis 500MB data plan, I will fork out RM2,075 for Desire + 1 year Maxis 500MB data plan.  If i buy retail and sign up Digi, I will have to pay RM2,099 + RM68 x 12 month = RM2,915.  A big difference.

If I manage to get an AP Desire from Spore for RM1,750-RM1,800, then I will just use the phone without any data plan.

That's my reason for saying "defeat the purpose for data plan".  If I want to sign up for data plan from any Telco, I will make sure i will get some rebate from the phone retail price.  wink.gif

500MB is too low for me... its like nothing.
3GB is more like it... and Maxis is still charging RM78 after RM10 rebate. Not to mention that need to have at least RM50 commitment for call plan.

emm.. i think i'm gonna terminate my smartplan... i have wifi at office and home... i think i'll just use the daily unlimited rm5 a day when i go outstation... not contracted here...
*
Worth it?
Unless you use it less than 12 days..

with froyo 2.2 coming out.. wonder if Legend (n also Desire) will hv wifi hotspot capabilities? hehehe.. den it will be good for us smart plan users tongue.gif

I dont think so. In fact, I already using something similar with my 5800. From my observation, I would rather plug in the USB to teether. The reason being, the wifi chip run much hotter and eat battery fast. My 5800 fully charged cant even last an hour. USB wise can last 2hr or so. I cant imagine you would wanna use it on the go.

Guys, I don't think we need to wait for Digi to release Desire anymore. Think they will focus more on Iphone instead. But here is what interesting. Apparently Digi has lowered Iphone 3GS as well as the call plan for it. I'm seriously considering switching to the new package as you only need to pay RM90 for 3gb + 400 minutes of calls + 200 sms. Think will call them to ask whether can take plan only or must take phone to qualify for it.

So must take phone hor...
Still worth it... I already pay RM90+ for my smart plan while waiting for Digi to release 'something'..
16GB 3GS vs HTC Legend... Interesting.
The thing is, you dont feel much pain dropping a RM890 phone on the floor than dropping a 2k phone like 4g or Desire.

For our existing smartplan phone bundles. Legend, Blackberry. But only for the outlet in Lowyat and Sg Wang. It's a dealer promo.
*
Are you sure bor?

IMO, I dont think Digi will give you a Legend @ RM999 for 24 months contract of RM68 with additional RM20 off every month plus the possibility of 25% discount on Smart Plan once your total bill exceed Rm100.

Its most probably for phone purchase at retail price which Digi was reluctant to subsidise like Desire.

2nd fiddle? http://digi.com.my/iphone4

Anyway, for devices, I believe digi can't play the same game as maxis/celcom, since we do not have the same resources as them.

Dont have or dont want, aiyor...

Digi profit up again le... dont be too stingy la. Lastime I got chance to invade Digi HQ while working as a part timer. At that time, they were doing some promo with X-men theme. Guess what, they are distributing free tickets to dealers and staffs. My friend and I managed to beg for 2. Booking the whole 1U TGV just for that. No resources?

It's not too expensive either. Digi shows us the SRP as comparison but in reality you guys (telco) could be buying them at huge discount. Legend cost way less than the 1, 999 pricetag. If these seller on LYN could offer them for 1, 799, Digi could be getting them for just 1. 5k or so nia.

I think slowly Digi will move in the same direction as Maxis which is to get 30% revenue from mobile internet. To achieve this, phone offerings is important to lure customers.

Salute you bro for making this bold move. But I must advise those who MNP to buy a Digi prepaid sim and try to figure out the coverage first. Some Maxis user ain't getting used to the weaker coverage by Digi.

Sweetpuff,

I think you should update Digi Smart Plan FAQ?

Digi apparently allows Smart Plan as add-on but I was told it was impossible. Secondly, if Smart Plan is add-on, its not eligible for 25% discount.

Digi really give me headache. Bill me for DG 50 + Smart Plan when what I wanted is just Smart Plan. When I complain, they said I insisted on Smart Plan as add-on whereby the truth is that I was told both plan can't coexist when I called in to make the change. I think Digi profited RM50 from me for nothing. Had it not been for the phone subsidy, I would have screw their CS upside-down.

Lol~
I thought we can take smart plan as a stand-alone plan or as a add on plan?
I also faced this problem b4 when helping my pals doing this.
Have to call all the way up b4 they told me its possible >"<
*
Thats the problem. The CS that I receive my call, told me its impossible cos both are call plan, but then when she proceed with the upgrade, it become addon. At first, I really wanted to but after considering my usage, decide to switch to smart plan only. Somemore Digi just advertised 25% of smart plan for total usage >100, but did not mention not applicable when used together with DG50.
