yes, you can install 2x 4GB RAM, on your own. the thing is, your MBP comes with 2x 2GB, so my advice is get 1x 4GB first. I saw it around 700+.

try with 6 GB ... cos most consumer apps (including Adobe stuff) only supports up to 4GB. any more is just wasted sad.gif

heh? But with more RAM you can run more apps concurrently isn't it?
What do you mean most consumer apps only supports up to 4GB??

This. If a software uses up all 4GB of RAM, at least there'll be extra for your iCal, Mail, Safari, etc.

that's y i am asking xaw5126, why it will be wasted? You don't run only 1 application most of the time right?
Furthermore, never heard before Adobe app only support up to 4GB, in fact, I don't understand that, what does it mean?
Meaning there's no different when you run Adobe app on a 4GB and 8GB Mac? Becos Adobe app do not "see" any extra RAM more than 4GB?
Hope someone could clarify this smile.gif Very new to me.

I just use a network cable (RJ-45) connect my pc and mac, share my music folder at pc. At mac, click on "connect to server" and type "smb://yourPC_IP_address

That's it, then you able to copy from your pc to mac smile.gif
of cos you need to assign your pc with a static IP first.

You can transfer from the drive, but cannot transfer to the drive.
NTFS-3G

sorry to ask, but I was connecting my pc and mac with RJ-45 cable, direct connection.
Open my PC share folder with smb:// protocol.
Then I just transfer files from mac to pc, which previously I backup from my pc to mac.
I am very sure I didn't install NTFS-3G or any other NTFS tool, because the mac is brand new.

May I know what happen? As I know Mac couldn't "write" to NTFS...
Although they are some file with chinese filename will give me error, but most of the files
transfer back to my pc without any problem blink.gif

man this is slow. guys, can u tell me how much longer i have to wait for just to get my mbp 15?? i ordered it thru education store with my visa cc last night around 11pm. until now the product says not yet shipped =,=''. i cant stay at home too long just to wait for the arrival of the product seh. can i hurry them???

Oh my god, you expect Apple to work after 11pm?? shakehead.gif
if you didn't do customization, usually it will be shipped within 24 hours, but that is "SHIPPED", not delivery, it might takes another 1-2 days for DHL to deliver it to your door step. But since you purchase from Education store, Apple might call you and ask you to email for verification (e.g. scan copy of Student ID, staff ID and etc.), which happens to me last week. So add up togther all these processes, you might need to wait 1 week+

For my case, I placed my Mac mini order last Monday with customization. It suppose to reach me today as I just tracked the shipment, it arrived KL this morning rclxms.gif

hi guys, just got a mac and now on the way to setup a simple home networking for internet/file sharing between a mac and a pc without router. (dont ask me why i didnt get a router involved)

currently the pc acts as a server that is connected to internet, and mac is connected to pc via wireless ad-hoc(peer to peer) connection. this works fine so far.

what i'm having problem is the file sharing section. i created a network and a workgroup in windows, and my windows has been granted access to read the shared folders in mac. the problem is now, mac can't get access to window's shared folder. from the Network section, there is no network/workgroup detected, and i can't get it connect to any server on windows, both afp and smb

any idea what's wrong guys? really appreciate it

have you turn off your windows firewall? Or at least add as exception.

May I know do you all receive confirmation when you register your MB/MBP/iMac online? I did receive the confirmation email for my macbook, but i didn't receive it for my mac mini which i register 3 weeks later.

Anyway to check whether the warranty registration been completed successfully? I login to apple website but found nothing, only page to let you register new apple product.
