omg my MBP will arrive in 2 days time..so exciting..but i have a question..i have tons of songs in my windows desktop..and i have a WD hardisk..but as i know its format is NFTS..can i just like transfer the song over and put in  my mac?  or else what can i do?
*
Mac OSX can read NTFS, just not write. So if you're copying your music library over to your Mac, it shouldn't run into any problems.

sorry to ask, but I was connecting my pc and mac with RJ-45 cable, direct connection.
Open my PC share folder with smb:// protocol.
Then I just transfer files from mac to pc, which previously I backup from my pc to mac.
I am very sure I didn't install NTFS-3G or any other NTFS tool, because the mac is brand new.

May I know what happen? As I know Mac couldn't "write" to NTFS...
Although they are some file with chinese filename will give me error, but most of the files
transfer back to my pc without any problem  blink.gif

RJ-45 cable means you linked both computers via network, hence the issue of file systems does not arise. An expert in NTFS and HFS+ can probably explain why.

i used macbook for more than a week now. all functions is good and really satisfy with the quality except for:
1. a red stuck pixel. feels like crazy when looking at it.
2. no cut-paste function. i used moveAddict software. so no problem anymore.
3. huge memory consumption.
4. cannot close lid while letting my macbook on.

maybe im not quite familiar with mac because before this i used windows and ubuntu. can anyone can give me opinions? thanks.
*
1. That's a dead pixel and you are eligible for a replacement if you're still under warranty.
2. CMD + C, CMD + X, CMD + V. RTFM
3. Are you referring to the OS? If so, huge consumption in comparison to what?
4. How is this a problem? I'd rather know that my Macbook is asleep than stick it into the bag while it's reading and writing from a harddisk drive.

ohmy.gif  can you explain on why you said that the 13" is more suited for me? you're answer is quite... general  wink.gif

A general question is best replied with a general answer.

You mention uni work but nothing specific. The needs of a graphic-intensive suite of programs is a world's difference from the simple need to write lab reports. Not to mention that the price difference between "base models" of the 13" and 15" can go as far as RM3,300, which clearly brings up the important question of your budget.

If you want a better answer, describe your course scope, budget and whether 1.5" and 500g makes a difference to you.

Ironically the games on Steam that are available for Mac are pretty affordable.

These days any game that supports Windows and Mac will usually be sold as a single disc or disc set.

I have Steam already, and I don't think Starcraft will be sold there. Does anyone know where I can preorder starcraft 2 for mac?
*
Anywhere that does pre-orders for the Windows version; both versions are sold on the same disc. So check out your local PC game shop.

Is the a particular reason why you didn't use Bootcamp for the installation?

Have you tried installing the drivers off of the Leapord/Snow Leapord install disk (assuming you have one)?

From the Apple Bootcamp Install Setup Manual:

QUOTE
To install the Boot Camp drivers:
1 Eject the Windows installation disc.

  a Go to My Computer.
b Select the optical drive (D:).
c Click “Eject this disk” in the System Tasks list.

2 Insert the Mac OS X disc.

The installer should start automatically. If you have AutoRun turned off, double-click
the setup.exe file to start installing the drivers.

3 Follow the onscreen instructions.

If a message appears that says the software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
Windows that appear only briefly during the installation don’t require your input.

If nothing appears to be happening, there may be a hidden window that you must respond to. Check the taskbar and look behind open windows.

4 After your computer restarts, follow the instructions in the Found New Hardware Wizard to update your software drivers (Windows XP only).

5 Follow the instructions for any other wizards that appear.

Woohoo just installed windows the other day laugh.gif working well and it asked me to install some anti-virus for it. Should I? I mean if my windows gets virus, will it affect my mac?
*
Get Microsoft Security Essentials, turn on your firewall and make sure to keep your browser and its plugins up to date. Count yourself lucky you get a virus that's sole purpose was to crash your computer, and not install rootkits to steal your passwords.

hi guys,

jus wan to enquire..

if i am going to install win7 onto the mbp 13"...
currently spec at 250gb.. should i actually increase the hdd to 320gb?
considering saving the hassle of future upgrades?

usage: normal surfing, chatting, office, blogging, and .net env programming w sql server (plan to do this in the bootcamp).. jus wana know how much space i should allocate for the windows..

tq!

It isn't worth the cost just for 70GB extra. At RM163, you might as well spend a little more for an external 320 - 500 GB firewire or USB HDD.
