i had the some kinda issue with the mobile 3g broadband(usb stick) too. mac will automatically install the pre-loaded software from the usb stick, but it just wouldnt work. after some troubleshooting, mac finally recognized the usb modem via Network, and connects to the internet without using the software, but the speed is really slow, like 10% of what i normally get..

You bought it from China? Buy it over there cheaper than US?
I would advise you to buy sleeve for macbook first.

just curious, what's the reason you bought a mbp after getting an envy 15? isn't envy less than 1 year old?

well, windows 7 keeps giving me pop ups with secure this and secure that, so i decided to go try a macbook. thus hoping things might be better. true it is better, less pop ups and less security issues now to worry. but the compatibility.... that is where hands down loses to win

Last time i installed Digi Broadband and when i try to open the app,it sayd the programme is closed unexpectedly. Then i try to upgrade my USB firmware, and it works after that.

My MagSafe adapter seems to be broken, after > 3.5 yrs of usage. It doesn't light up when charging and stays green after the battery is fully charged and disconnected from the MBP.. there is something wrong with it, going to Sapura today and see if I could get a free replacement .. following Apple troubleshooting guide, if it is not an accidental damage, I could get a replacement foc.

A general question is best replied with a general answer.

You mention uni work but nothing specific. The needs of a graphic-intensive suite of programs is a world's difference from the simple need to write lab reports. Not to mention that the price difference between "base models" of the 13" and 15" can go as far as RM3,300, which clearly brings up the important question of your budget.

If you want a better answer, describe your course scope, budget and whether 1.5" and 500g makes a difference to you.
