Wow, so many bloatware in Y460?? hmm.gif...my guess it would be better to do a clean install...for me, the recovery partition is not that important as i would also do a recovery for myself with ghost tongue.gif...

Added on April 18, 2010, 5:47 pmSo, the heat still manageable?? I guess must be like S42 where the heat is just bearable while playing games hmm.gif

i checked the lenovo support forum and they really said that.. if the volume size is amended, one key recovery will not work. let say in future the boot drive infected with virus and want to reformat, where the hell can we save important files? usually ppl store files in different partition so that can safely reformat the windows partition right.
*
Well, the same case with my desktop from HP, got one recovery key option too but its useless after i created another partition, the recovery cannot work sweat.gif...

Need to move this thread in Notebook Specific Discussion...that's where this should be tongue.gif...

@jotaro
Nice review and also, just read your temp reading on 1st post...seems like the temp is quite nice for a 14" and also, wondering if we stress out the CPU/GPU will the temp go beyond 90C hmm.gif

Wow, using copper instead of aluminum, must be hot...well some say the heat for Y460 is kinda annoying, just want to know if the heat kinda a annoyance for the users here??

But from jotaro test, seems like the heat is considerably good, well if compare to my S42 laugh.gif...

hi, im considering buying a y460 but can anyone enlighten me on what should i expect when purchasing this laptop?..
*
What do you meant by what to expect hmm.gif...so far got no problem with this laptop just the fact that HM55 (well, all laptop with HM55 also suffer the same problem but still good) heated up pretty easily, meaning that the laptop will be hot when running for a long time nod.gif..but from the review of the owners, the problem shouldn't be a major one as it won't bugs you much nod.gif

Too bad you can OC your 5650 anytime to 5730 w/o screwing your laptop/GC.
*
+1, no point getting a HD5730 if you can OC HD5650 to the same level..but still, HD5730 can be OC to a higher level too icon_idea.gif..

The temp is very, very nice for an OCed GPU..i guess its not that HOT at all, 74C is thumbup.gif..even my S42 went 98C on stress test sweat.gif...

For a 14", maintaining temp @60C is already consider thumbup.gif & nice!!!

QUOTE(TealTurino @ May 8 2010, 02:14 PM)
I just booked the Y460 and paid the deposit for the RM 5599 version. I was planning to get the SXPS 16 with ATI 5730 but I don't want to play the waiting game forever. Y460 is the only laptop readily available locally with ATI 5650. Other laptops like ASUS or 4820tg Acer are either out of stock or only have the ATI 5450 option.

I tried to find reviews of this laptop online but so far I can only find news listing about Y460. Thus I relied mostly on this forum thread to know more about this laptop. From what I gather, Y460 runs hot but if I use a laptop cooler, it should be fine. Will there be throttling issues like the SXPS when the cpu goes above 80C?

Lastly, I heard that dx11 games run faster than dx10. However a lot of times, I heard low to mid end cards like 5450 and 5650 are unable to use dx11 though on paper they can. I'm confused by these two seemingly contradictory statements. Could an expert enlighten me please? Thanks.

Care to list down the spec for this Y460 @RM5599 shocking.gif..i tot its only RM3599 the highest shocking.gif..typo??? sweat.gif

Not bad for this spec...Today will test new arrived Z460. Integrated graphic, sighs.

Well, can give a simple review for it later..not on this thread smile.gif..maybe can create another for it, though comes with Integrated GC, still some people prefer it over Dedicated because of battery life icon_rolleyes.gif
