haha this is due the the good heat dissipation of copper. the heat is easily transfered to the air thats why you can feel the very hot air coming out from the air vent! tongue.gif

Wow, using copper instead of aluminum, must be hot...well some say the heat for Y460 is kinda annoying, just want to know if the heat kinda a annoyance for the users here??

But from jotaro test, seems like the heat is considerably good, well if compare to my S42 laugh.gif...

I still don't quite understand why you guys having these issue hmm.gif . Do you switch on ATI GC all the time? If you're on Intel GMA, what's the idle temp? If it's more than 55C on GMA, then you must have a lot of background apps running.

This is my temp just now.

I currently have 84 processes running and the temp stay there most of the time. If more than 55C, yea it become warm. starting 65C, you'll feel the hot air pushing out from the vent.

however after comparing it with my friends's laptops, i will say it is normal for the mid-high end laptop to stress at 80+C , this temp is almost same as the deviltech DTX with 5650 when stressing.

for idle temp, below 60C is considered normal for notebook with dedicated gpu, include y460
i have tested the temp on my friend inspiron with 8400m gs, asus with ati 3470, benq with 8600m gs, their cpu temp is also roughly at that range

so judge yourself, if you are still not convinced, then you can google other laptop with same equivalent spec and see their temp when it is under stress test.
of course you might found the temp might be lower thany 460, this might be due to environment factors, such as the weather which is cooler in china, and western countries.

if not mistaken that is the south bridge of HM55, it is really hot
if what i say is true, then i guess all the laptop with HM55 will also get the same temp as y460

that is not really a problem, if that is a problem to you, then i think alot laptop is not suitable for you now ,since a lot laptops now are using HM55 chipset

i have tried with and without cooling pad, it does not make any different to my laptop, even got, also a few degrees
btw, the cooling pad i use is cheap cheap , only less than rm10 i think, but i got it free.
perhaps the expensive cooling pad will help

Ya. We can assume that way. But we need to get the H55 alike laptop to compare w for the real comparison. hmm.gif

Do note I'm using it in my room with no air cond. If you're on 55C and above idle using Intel GMA, might as well do a re-format/clean installation if possible and check back your temp. hmm.gif

I wanted to use Ultimate/Professional because of XP mode. That's why I did a clean installation w/o touching the recovery partition and D:. Flavor?? what kind?? smile.gif

The SB on Y460/4820TG is siting far apart from CPU/GPU so even it's heated up, I don't think it'll do more than 60C unless you're in a non air circulated room. The main heat generates still remain on the CPU/GPU combo.
