Was in office using ATI as main GC to do my work(no games, rendering involved).

I was doing some internet browsing and word processing while transferring some 182GB of files. The GPU was doing 59-60C most of the time and CPU was 54-55C. the max CPU temp 67C occurred rather short moment like few secs and it just drop back to usual 55C. The 2nd picture was taken ~3 mins after file transfer was complete. After that, CPU kept ave 49-50C and GPU 52-54C throughout the day.

Today I haven't done much testing since I was reformatting the system and only ran a brief A/B tests so please bear with me and I'll do more tests in future   . 

1st Impression

I was kinda upset since the box really contained the basics accessories that came with it. Laptop, battery, adapter, universal cord, and starting guide booklets are the stuff inside the box. I'm still fascinated by it's outlook though and realize Lenovo does took chances by following Dell's footstep on getting more nice sleek multimedia laptops for consumers.

Initial start up/setup ran smooth at what I expected, nice SlideNav which I'm very fond of and gradually I'm in Windows 7 few mins later. Then I lay my hand near the heatsink and I really felt the warm air coming out of it but it's no serious matters. I was then doing some final check on the OS settings while playing few buttons including switching the GC. After ~15 mins, I went to lay my hand again near the heatsink, and I truly can say it has already become HOT air while ATI GC on use. I didn't notice the situation because there's no warm feeling on either palm rest and keyboard. I decided to finalize my checking ASAP and shut it down.
Overhauling

I began to re-install the OS and it took quite a bit of time as some incident happened. None the less, the whole process went well and I'm quite surprised to say that the temp near the heatsink didn't rise at all, it's just slight warm air. After I finished installing the OS, I tried to speed up my drivers installing and it seems the hot air still won't build up  . Final checking did took me a few more time i.e. software that I need, drivers setting, windows update etc and now I felt some warm on palm rest..... but it's on the HDD side, which is normal since accessing HDD frequently ----> HDD does spins more than usual -----> heat.
Rough  Conclusion

I believed that most of the heat problems which generated by users are found to be the software's fault, which is the default OS where bloatwares came with it in the 1st place. I've checked the task manager and found more than 80 processes running and while I was just browsing the features, the heat just generated, in a rather fast manner. With the new OS that I have now, having the same drivers and getting some software which I needed, I'm only getting normal laptop heat, 60-65 processes running(and I haven't go to msconfig to shut off the useless ones) and switching between ATI/Intel doesn't make a lot of difference. Lowest temp I got on it was 33C, normal usage using Intel GMA was 36-38C with browsing net and installing software. I hope this should clear out some of your minds and I'll continue my testing tomorrow. Thank you for reading
