QUOTE(chewkl @ Apr 14 2010, 11:45 PM) ok based on the 1st come 1st serve order in this thread chewkl, ront88 and yong goh are in.. if any of them pullout i will post here.. we r sorry coz of space limitation we couldnt invite more ppl.. i am sure pierreye n anfieldude will post a thorough review for those who missed out..i dont think there will be much surprises, when i bought ae4000 i did a quick comparison between w5000 n ae4000.. sorry for the pana fans, i w5000 has the upperhand for my taste.. i chose ae4000 just becoz of price n reliability.. not saying benq has reliability problem just that i havent heard pana has much problem n its also cheaper if anfieldude n pierreye are ok with sat 2pm saturday then 2pm it will be. QUOTE(pierreye @ Apr 15 2010, 09:34 PM) As we need the projector bulb to warm up first before calibration, we'll do some comparison first for first 30min, then calibrate and do a second round comparison on post calibration. bro maybe i need to drop by earlier n drop the pj to u 1st.. my wife asks me to go mothercare in gurney ... sian lo |

Special thanx to pierreye for letting us enjoy his ht room and anfieldude's effort in calibrating my pj... all in all i think all of us had fun except the part where pierreye's son made me feel so stupid... <10 year old kid can calibrate displays nowadays hahha.

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Apr 18 2010, 10:20 AM) I think ur DD12 is doing very well in ur room. In fact, my honest opinion is that with a Submersive and without an external EQ for the sub, I believe ur sub will overpower everything else. Ur room behaves in a unique way. The build up of bass is immense yet, there is no boominess. The main thing about a ported sub is the ability to build up the bass in the port thus increasing the dBs while going low. What essentially happens is that u cannot the low rumblings. In ur room, the DD12 managed to seem to be going low enuf for me. There was a clear tactile feeling that is normally only there with ported subs. There is something abt ur room that is different. Not sure if u have the REW graphs, but my guess is the decay is slighthly slower and the DD12 is dipping way below 35Hz at high levels. Also I believe that that ur positioning of the sub is optimal as such that u r managing to deep pretty low, much lower than normal for a sealed sub. i kind of disagree:) .. i felt like the bass could be better.. where i was sitting i think it lacks the bass that i can 'feel'I would not upgrade as u stand the risk of over bass. U will lose other details. |

QUOTE(pierreye @ Apr 18 2010, 02:20 PM) In fact in certain position, there is a dip in different freq. If I remember correctly, first row middle seat a little bit to the right had a dip around -6db at 63hz. Back row I think where mys_terious sit the dip is at 40+hz. DD12 had built in eq similar to Velo SMS-1 but I don't think that can fix the dip due to cancellation. i didnt try the 1st row:(... u r right abt the ahbeng part .. ahmeng=ahbeng:).. anyway your ht is very very nice liao .. who cares abt 2nd row as long as the seat u normally sit in sounds good.. i just complained for fun since i dont have to pay for the upgrade:) By the way u can also convert ht into a panic room.. since u can hide behind the screen hehehSometimes, we just want those ah beng subwoofer that give you a thump in the chest. Maybe I get another 12" sub (SVS SB12-NSD sealed sub?) at the left hand corner. Still can squeeze in a small sub there. SVS AS-EQ1 I'm interested if I get twin sub. |

QUOTE(ronnt88 @ Apr 20 2010, 08:48 AM) i think they should perform similarly since they're both sealed... ? bro i think moving the sub is no big deal....just a trolley kautim liao .. i think both of us can lift it into my car.. if cant then 3 person can lift it liao.. i am in if there is a shootout:)nonetheless, that would really be an interesting shootout ... think we need to arrange for mover to move it there & back for it to happen. I wonder how much will the mover cost? actually if we did that, we could try : 1) sub shootout 2) compare performance of single vs dual sub setup 3) try out AS-EQ1 equalizing 4) ronnt88 finds out subM performance in HT room wow... really worth planning for rite? |

QUOTE(ronnt88 @ Apr 20 2010, 09:22 AM) huh? sure boh? it certainly won't fit into my peasant sedan car... whose car can we use?? (think van or hedgeback car is best). my xtrail belakang can fold down.. lazy chair also can fit takan kenot put in submersive:) but i wont bring my sub la.. so mahuan... from my house kena move down from 3rd floor.. drive to pg .. move up to 3rd floor.. then drive to your house angkat big sub.. then drive to pierreye's house again n move up to 3rd floor... after shootout finish kena carry down 3 rd floor.. send it back and bring up to your apartment.. then i gonna drive back to carry my sub down from 3rd floor.. then drive home to my hometown and carry it up again... siao ah!htkaki posed a great idea with the volunteering of PC-13U for triple showdown in fact, with the PC13, we can try the ultimate test of fusing a sealed & ported sub (with EQ1) & see if that brings out the best of both world now all we need to do is plan for it ? Added on April 20, 2010, 9:24 am wei... u look down on our elite chew izzit? i'm sure he's back is much stronger than it looks k |

QUOTE(dirtrun @ Apr 20 2010, 12:06 PM) USD2k.. if u swap them instantly u will see the diff... but after swapping, watch it for 2minutes u will forget abt each weaknesses in movies... but if u use it for games or pc, ae4000's sharpness is not acceptable.. very obvious when u look at the text.. it will strain your eyes for sureHmmmnn.. then in de US.. its stil a tad more exp than de panny.. But for tis comparo.. its quite close .. huh.. Ya man.. bro HT leg shld do a loaner for a sub comparo.. wif a clause tat all in attendance mus get from him onced poisoned.. kekeke.. I d offer my pb12+ for shoot out but mine is an old model liao.. D |

QUOTE(pierreye @ Apr 22 2010, 06:59 PM) My HDMI is from bluejeanscable.com which is Belden Series 1 bonded HDMI. The cable is thicker then most boutique brand. Tested running at up to 100ft for 1080p. I think testing HDMI cable to find the difference is difficult. As long as no white flashes or HDMI video drop issue should be good enough. Just not sure if it will work for future 1080p 120hz 3D. My cable length is 40ft. i thought u have branded hdmi last time... i am using blujins too hhahaAnyway, projectorreviews.com 4th annual comparison of 1080p projector in diff. price category is out. http://www.projectorreviews.com/home-projector/index.php |
