QUOTE(wuanzi @ Apr 13 2010, 07:55 AM) The best part is that it plays MKV, AVI, MP3, etc using USB - basically can use it as a media player too. Are you sure can play MKV? Can you please provide the link to say that can play MKV? Does it play only on Burned disc or can it play on USB HDD as well? --------------------- Never mind I googled and it seemed this player got lots of problems with video files playback. I read some complaints that it doesn't play x264 MKV files? Can give your feeback on this. Did you managed to play them?
Btw, have you tried playing DVD movie saved to USB Hard Disk? Will all the menus function poperly and can be selected?

Can you do me a favour. Could you just pop in a DVD (single layer will do) into your PC Drive and copy the contents to a USB thumb drive and then try playing it on the Samsung player. Will the Menus show up and be selected with the remote?

I tested some media players, they can't scale DVD files as good as my stand alone 3-4year old Sony HDMI DVD player using DVD Disc. Media players might be good at playing High Definition video, but when it comes to SD, it doesn't really shine.
So I was hoping the Samsung is as good as my old Sony, but using USB to play. I have a large collection of DVD which I want to transfer all to HDD.
Btw, I have just tested at Best Denki, it can't play DVD Video through USB. It can play AVI files though.
