Not much experience w/ Mag85, but I do have a FM85 I bought off Fivemega years ago. Its running on 3 x AW C-cells.
It gets pretty hot too. Hot enough to char the chrome bezel slightly. Can show you if you're interested.
Am now trying to lego together a pocket rocket like your seraph... just waiting for some more incoming parts.
Arghh... the wait... sucks...

Awesome work pseudoblue - good to be in V4!
Does anyone here in M'sia have experience with M@g hotwires? I.e. Mag85/Mag11/Mag09?
I'm already running a WA1185 in my Seraph on 3xIMR18500 and it's awesome bright (I'd guess about 1500 bulb lumens, maybe 900 OTF - and I love it floody) but it gets way too hot to hold after a minute of use!
So, I've got a Mag2D on the way ready to mod into a Mag85 as well as a Mag09 (Using FiveMega's 1909 bulb for > 2000 bulb lumens!). I was just curious if anyone here has played with these hotwire M@gs and how they compare to what they have. I just hope my 2 packages from US don't go missing... (Already lost 2 packages in the past few months)
