tempted =p .. is the quality a lot better than ITP SA2? additional rm20 oni.
will it be brighter than SA2? coz ITP SA2 using R2 led and eagletac P100A2 using Q5 only?
Jewelberry, P100A2 may not be brighter than iTP SA2, but the built is indeed better. smile.gif

Just bought one ITP SA2 from gadgetsworld2u just now...am very happy with the brightness and the quality built for the price...was looking for long beam throw and brighter torchlight.
Good for you. smile.gif you are in good hands, GW2U is a top-rated seller with good service.

QUOTE(ochinchoon @ Jun 24 2010, 02:48 AM)
Also the salesperson say he sell so long nvr had any customer say got problem. And if drop my floor spoil not the torchlight spoil lol...

Quality is not just about problem(s), it involves the overall design decision, the machining, the material/parts used, the QC, and durability.

I still think the best flashlight one can buy at that price range is the EagleTac T100c2, but of course, you will need to use primary CR123A or LiIon rechargeable batteries. If you wanna stay with AA, then you won't go wrong with Fenix TK20. thumbup.gif

EDIT: note that Fenix TK20 is using neutral white emitter (some refers to as yellowish or warm). brows.gif

DeinanCF, look closer, or better, ask them... damonlbs is right. Though you might not like what they have...
But I'm not so sure the TIR on the Icon Modus is what you referred to as "...flood light..." unsure.gif If you are looking at polkiuj's Modus, that's modded with XP-G... it's one and only unique Modus drool.gif
You could also take a look at SureFire E1L/E2L-Outdoorsman for similar TIR optics, errr... they are however a little over RM200 tongue.gif

I have seen Pikachu's Modus after modding and was really taken by the evenness/smoothness of the gradation from the center to spill area.  wub.gif And the spill doesn't just cut off suddenly like the others. wub.gif It's the TIR lens that makes it that way right?  icon_idea.gif
Terrible ouch on the pricing for the Surefire E1L/E2L shocking.gif (Your fellow expert at GW2u also shook his head, it's not what I'm looking for) Any others out of the Icon series?  hmm.gif
sweat.gif you are still up at ~4am? you don't sleep? notworthy.gif
polkiuj is right, you will need a relatively larger die LED to achieve the same effect with TIR. In fact, I think what happens with polkiuj's Modus is a "positive" side effect of using the larger die. Normal TIR optic gives relatively minimal spill and focus most of the light into a large spot. The other Icon model >> "Icon Link" is a little weird in shape... tongue.gif
My suggestion as alternative is to look at a heavily textured reflector, that should gives you a very smooth transition from spot to spill. biggrin.gif

biggrin.gif LOL! that's the funniest description of the beam profile of your Modus TIR. Yup! That's exactly what it appears to be. brows.gif

Hello leroy87,

doess the watt of the flashlight determines the brightness?
:: no.

does the max output lumens determines the brightness?
:: sort-of...

or what other criterias is important?
:: for me >> size, battery choice, tint/CCT, beam profile, CRI, driver, LED, throw vs flood, Optics (Collimator vs TIR) vs reflectors (OP vs SMO), material, HA vs Type II vs Coated/Painted, machining, switching machanism, after sales service, warranty/repair turn-around time
:: secondary criterias are value, country of origin

my LD01 SS has suffered a drop ard 2 meters high 2 weeks ago on a carpet floor and now its partially dead.. sometimes it would turn on and sometimes it just wont.. i've tried new batteries but its the same.. anyone got any idea wat has happened to it?
if I'm not mistaken, Fenix's light carry 2 years warranty period. just send back to your dealer for inspection and warranty/repair.
SS light is heavy, so the impact is greater than Al version, check your tail-spring for deform and check the front contact board for hair-line crack. There could be some loose soldering resulted from the impact that causes intermittent contact issue.

normally, the spring should sit firmly at the bottom... if you can remove the spring, you can try stretching the spring "a little" so that the battery will get a bit more "contact pressure".
another common intermittent failure are due to dirty thread or contact, have you try cleaning your contact point and body thread?

Fenix warranty is 24 months as stated here >> http://www.fenixlight.com/service.asp?action=tiaokuan

"...We will replace products afflicted with manufacturing defects within 15 days of purchase;we will also repair a light free of charge within 24 months of purchase if problems develop with normal use..."

EDIT: mind telling us where you get it from? just notice that you are located at Sri Petaling from your avatar, perhaps you can contact our local Fenix distributor GadgetWorld2U for assistant?

For my current usage distances, I'd say around 180 - 225 metres. I know there's some very pricey lights out there, but I'd much prefer them in a rather compact size, with lengths no more than 8 - 9 inches and not one gigantic bulbous head. It'll be inconvenient to lug around.
*
hello taingonghai, just a heads up... you may wanna have a look at EagleTac T20C2 MKII with "CREE XR-E R2 Binned LED" (remember you'll need to specify the LED when you order, else it comes default XP-G). Philightsophy is our local EagleTac distributor, he has a thread in LYN here >> http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1121879 but it's a little out-dated. tongue.gif
You can further visit EagleTac website >> http://www.eagletac.com/flashlights/t20c2.html for more information.
The basic kit should fit well within your budget. Cheers. biggrin.gif
