Let me recommend! Wahahaha!

If you don't know what I'm talking about, either pick what you know or do more research. =D Prices U need to check yourself. I might be wrong.

1st, pick your battery. AA NiMh, CR123A, 14500, 16340, 17670, 18650, AAA
2nd, pick your size. Keychain(ish), EDC, Utility (Small > Big)

Feel free to add if I miss any. This is by no means comprehensive, you are required to do your own research. =)

My first "high-powered" LED light was a single AA, Fenix LD10 (RM200+ that time). I told myself that I will only need 1 LED light. Once you get the taste of its beauty, there's no turning back tongue.gif

I have more than 10 flashlights now, big, medium, small, with so many battery setups (18650, 18500, 17670, AA, 123) biggrin.gif Welcome to the hobby and interest for flashlights! They are not just for collection, shelf queens but they are real stuff, real tools smile.gif
*
Hey!! Mine too!!

Cost me RM 220!!

And so dim! And burn summore!

But I'm not complaining. I LOVE it now! Wahahaha!

I have only 9! (on the way ones doesn't count). Trying not to hit 10! Haha!

I'm still a fan of the Quark Mini  thumbup.gif

And well, you are officially had more than ten tongue.gif if you didn't sold off some of your lights brows.gif Eventually even now.. sure touch 10 one.. wahahaha!

Thanks! Maybe you I should keep that somewhere and modify it when people ask hehe! I tried to stick to his budget + RM15. Heh~

Actually, no. At my peak, I only had 10. Thanks to the awesome buyer who took the Inova T1 outta my hands when it came. =D Now I have my 10th on the way. But I'l trying to get rid of more. Need more lights from different parts of the world.
Already got UK, China, USA on the way.
Need more customs too. I want all 9 of my lights to be customs. Now I have 4 already, 5th on the way! Haha! More than half is a good number.

I WILL NOT SUCCUMB TO 10! I will sell/give away my not so used (but still awesome) lights!

QUOTE(MetalZone @ May 6 2010, 02:51 PM)
LOL eventually will surpass 10 wan... I did... and so did many of you when you said it was gonna be one only haha. Remember n-1, where n is the number of lights. One is none. Two is one. Three is better. Four is more.

Haha! Funny!
E05 takes a 14250. It's 1/2 AA (E20 is 2xAA, E10 is 1xAA so E05 must be 0.5xAA!)

Let me do a quick overall test of the Warm tint. =D
THIS IS A TINT COMPARISON ONLY!

I will compare it with Craig's P60 incan only. =D

Pulling out my Digital color meter on the beamshots reads this.

P60
R 163, G 101, B44
Red 53%, Green 33%, Blue 14%

MiNi Warm
R 172, G 102, B 33
Red 56%, Green 33%, Blue 11%

Seems like this warm has more red and less blue than an incan. O.o!

I'll just add the cool and neutrals.
BTW, this is the XP-G neutral white, which I'm guessing that it's actually outdoor white because the output of these are simply absurd!

MiNi cool
R 91, G 107, B 105
Red 30%, Green 35%, Blue 35%

MiNi neutral
R 120, G 97, B 81
Red 40%, Green 33%, Blue 27%

Hmm.. Interesting.. Wonder what it all means..

Added on May 8, 2010, 6:51 amanyone using 4Sevens' CR123a batteries? do you check the Voltage of the 2-battery pack? I find it interesting that mine are mostly 0.03V apart, like 3.22V/3.25V, 3.24V/3.27V. as these are shrink-wrap in 2 per pack, I really didn't expect to have such a different Voltage. My 12-Pack SureFire battery all giving 3.28V consistently, likewise for Sanyo and Panasonic...  hmm.gif as these are put into 2-cell lights, the one near the head will consistently get draw more and leaving the Voltage gap bigger  sweat.gif
*
Interesting interesting. Never use then though, I'm more of a rechargeable guy. Actually, fully rechargeable since they give POWER! Waha!

Maybe its to put the higher voltage one near the head leaving no or very little gap? Lol. I dunno. xD

Good idea. Sorry can't help you here. Dun wan ppl asking me why got holes in the batt's shrink wrap xD

I'm not in it so much for guilt free lumens but the power factor. Lithiums can't push the voltage of LiCo or the current of LiMn. POWER is just too much fun too give away, at the expense of the light's life. (already killed a LD10 and MODUS xD)

Or I should say make the LD10 and MODUS what it should have been in the beginning, xD!!

QUOTE(heng84 @ May 10 2010, 02:21 PM)
hi sifus i have fenix tk10.. but i felt that its not enough for me after going to the beach tongue.gif
craving for more now!!  no doubt the flash im using now is bright.. but i want something that can shoot super duper far.. can anyone recommend me a  flash light.. budged 500+/-  was considering tk40 but any better ones?
hows the catapult v2 compared to fenix tk40.. sorry im noob in flashlight but a hardcore wannabe haha pls enlighten me..
*
The catapult is not a true thrower. If you want a proper thrower, you gotta be prepared to sacrifice lumens, beam quality and/or money. (Pick at least one) Unless you're not looking for a dedicated thrower, but since you said "i want something that can shoot super duper far.."

As you can see from the beamshot, the Tiablo A10-G totally destroys the Catapult for throw. It'll easily whack the TK40 as well as the Eagletac M2 series.

A10-G can be gotten from GW2U for only RM 380 now and should satisfy your throwing need.
Tiablo A9 is now only RM 265 + RM 90 for the aspheric head and you have the best thrower for the money. More than 60k lux (I think, you gotta ask GW2U), for only RM 355. But it throws a square beam (projection of the LED) with almost no spill.

It's custom Type III HA Black anodized, bored to fit 2x18500 cells. It's completely anodized inside out, except the electrical contact points have been machined to reveal the bare aluminium. I just fitted in the stainless steel bezel.
*
VERY NICE!! BRING IT I WANNA SEEEEEEEEEEE!! =D

Oh yea, how come the second pic right at the middle between the 2 C3's got a little bit of cyan? And why are the C3's shadows cyan? blink.gif

@heng84
Your choices should be narrowed to
Tiablo A10-G
Tiablo A9 with collimator
Solarforce Masterpiece-1

=D

If you want the stanley, you gotta pull some strings. =D

Oh the cyan shadows... lol...  tongue.gif  I used my Mag74 and ceiling fluorescent light for lighting. So I adjusted the white balance during post processing... and coz I was lazy to desaturate that particular blue hue (I should have done that actually now that you say it).
EDIT: fixed the cyan shadows. you need to reload the picture.
*
Haha! Just wondering. whistling.gif

Just what I thought, hehe. At first I was wondering what gives cyan lighting. Then I realized it must either be ur fault or some conversion problem xD

yeah, this drop in has a very huge and smooth hot spot and a huge spill too  thumbup.gif [ but i prefer a thrower than a spiller  tongue.gif ] imho, this is so much better than the DX's drop in.....anf for the price we're getting, this is definitely the steal deal !
ooh.....thanks for the discovery  rclxms.gif gonna centered it later.....just wondering how come it can be move ?  hmm.gif
*
My guess is that the emitter is mounted on a board, which has thermal paste beneath it but no epoxy. Hence it is not stuck and can be moved.

The plastic disc should be pushing the board to ensure a better thermal path.

However, for the sake of the LED, using a board might not be the best idea..

Someone needs to get a pseudo IS soon. =D I wonder where to get circular styrofoam balls.. Hmm...

@Rookie: How come the PN 1xAAA has such a huge neck?? O.o!! rclxub.gif

Haha! Very close, except for the 300 OTF lumens part brows.gif

Mine's a custom custom (lol), I would guess mine is about 360ish OTF lumens. It draws 1.6A with a 18650 @ 4.16V rclxub.gif

Mwahaha!

Hmm.. Can't believe how much light this thing is losing.. =( But oh well, 5 mins is not even an issue with this light! It just gets warm and stays that way!! drool.gif This is my new extended runtime light! Anyone wants to buy my Eagletac? =D

Wow! The XP-G is running almost 90 lumen/W @ 1.6A!! Crazy things!!

Ok. Soon. Hehe. I actually prefer the beam of my MODUS XP-G. The spill near my legs is so much brighter and it's way more gradual. Hotspot roughly the same size. I guess my MODUS is also a 5.5º or 6º ish beam.

But this sucker really throws a HUGE bright hotspot! Reminds me of the L1, on super steroids. =D
