hmm nitecore has finally 'fixed' the UI with the new TUP... now long press on power button is direct to low.
now to wait for this to trickle down to a Tip v4 or Tini v2...

there's no industry standard so until the industry finds a ui that most users prefer, it's still very much a free for all. pretty new to the light thingy and everytime i have a light on, takes me a while to figure out which light uses what ui, and more often than not, it's by trial and error...

never said there was an industry standard...
just in reference to nitecore as some ppl prefer the UI to be a certain way as per older models...hence the revision of it back to what ppl would be more comfortable with.

diff manufacturers obviously have their own way, so some will stick to 1 or 2 brands with a UI that they are familiar / like...but of cos there are also many overlaps to serve what is usually 2 or 3 different segments...
some prefer direct to low, some prefer start on medium, etc etc...so not exactly a multitude of options out there...hence also not a problem for manufacturers to offer a small segment of their products catering to these others.

no no no... don't get me wrong. i never meant to allude to you actually saying that your preference is or should be the industry standard. just saying that as long as the industry doesn't stick to a particular ui format, there are bound to be varying options. and yes, i guess different people will have different preference also. hence there's a different market for the different variations (flood/throw/nw/cw/tailswitch/sideswitch etc).

oh ok.
but what i meant was that diff brands obviously have their own way of doing things...but as long as the UI isnt just one-dimensional then all is good.

anyway, after reading a review of that TUP...they really nailed the UI this time...and finally a proper lockout mode which went missing in 2017/18 from the TIP.
too bad its abit pricey and big, so yea again i'll just wait for that UI to trickle down to the TIP and TINI.

I've got a Ledlenser P7 for daily use in my bag. Cheap and cheerful, easy to replace AA batteries as well.

I miss my Led Lenser P3

Lost it while working in a ballroom. It wasn't bright but the Hi/Lo/Strobe interface was 300x better than any chinese led lights I've ever used. Especially the easy to press forward clicky

Been using my P7 for 4 years now. Have another P7 in the car for emergency use. So far so good. I use Eneloop batteries with them and they're great for everyday use. They also work well in rain and shitty environments without issue and I use it at work for site inspection where an IS lamp isn't required (eg; Pelican Sabrelight)

The easy to feel and large rear button is really good for gloved work. Love it.

The only issue is that the focusing mechanism doesn't play well with high shock, it loosens and rattles while the beam changes its setting when hit by recoil, so my rifle and pistol mounted lights are all Surefire (XC1, X300, M600IB rail mounted and G2x with Picatinny clamp)

Competitive shooting. Haven't tried other brands such as Inforce/Steiner/Olight/Streamlight for high shock use, but I do have a Streamlight Sidewinder for camping and find it to be very easy to use courtesy of the built-in swivel head and clip.

I usually don't use Surefire for my normal use and just use Ledlenser as these things are damned expensive.

looks damn cool. How was the lighter experience?
Is it zippo size just shorter? I'm no smoker but I always carry lighter for birthdays hahaha but for a gas lighter they either get too big or not waterproof for me.
Currently using a fake china fire stash keychain. Good for emergency light but can never stay lit for 2 minutes before the whole lighter turn into a fireball mess sweat.gif

Height same but thicker and feels lighter.
Very practical for non smoker who uses it once a while coz the fluid can last really long.
I think mine refill once since I bought a few weeks ago and it still can light up.

well strictly speaking, it's still a torch light in the vintage sense. the lumens, throw and stamina is still measurable. just different energy source and emitter.

looks like you're the lifesaver everybody thanks at a birthday party...

Finally something new in my collection

Kinda took too long to fix my dying P60. And was too afraid to try extra warm colors but overall I am very pleased with this tint.
Not the brightest. It's as bright as an ordinary XML T6 7A that I own and this LED finally had a partner to share its warmth biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
