i'm analyzing the news but not good at it so forgive me.

current existing law: only children whose mother is foreigner and father is malaysian are automatically granted malaysian citizenship.

changes: children whose father is foreigner and mother is malaysian can apply malaysian citizenship, but parents must make joint application, within 1 year. after it's approved, then must apply in personally to JPN

reason: to avoid gender discrimination, to avoid duel citizenship to the children, to protect image of the country

am i missing something?

it's a cool move but 'to avoid dual citizenship' doesn't register to me since some parents will still apply dual citizenship
