Let me rephrase my recommendation. If you play single player I think the game is okay since some of the missions are DAMN difficult. But the real fun of the game is in COOP. It makes the game more playable and fun. Since I now have a group of people to play the game with, I never bothered to play single player anymore(unless I'm bored or something). It's still difficult in coop but it makes a good game into an excellent one imho.

QUOTE(Gormaz @ Jun 25 2010, 04:40 PM) Haaa, ok, I played all solo myself and yar, some of the missions were batshit hard (even on Easy) but still overall pretty enjoyable and doable If you don't already have this....You can now play the Faces of War Missions with MoW. They released a mission pack mod.I am kinda struck at the "Trap", the very last mission of the Bonus campaign which is really tough. Coop might be quite enjoyable for this game yar, so if you have folks to play with it could be an even better value. Solo, it's very good but you better be up for a challenge Overall the game was a very good surprise for me as I did not expect it to be that good at all http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/show...d.php?t=1144172 Even more value... |

QUOTE(kianweic @ Jun 25 2010, 11:42 PM) Damn you should have tell me. My major gripe with it is the simon says match the colours quicktime events which will get crazy later on. Your finger will hurt....A LOT. And yes the story goes weird later but only if it didn't have the mad quick time events. I'm not kidding it will make you curse.Shitty controls can be solved with gamepad? Or it is as buggy as Fallout 3. |

QUOTE(EyraYus @ Jun 27 2010, 10:19 PM) I cant, on the right click menu, there is only Install, no run as admin, install as admin or anything You need to install it using a user account that is an administrator. Go to control panel, user accounts. You will see your user account there and it will state if it is an admin account. |

Not sure if this is relevant but has your install of Win7 been authenticated? If you reinstalled Win 7 on a new PC or something you need to re activate it. Just a guess, I'm not sure this is the issue.

QUOTE(Gormaz @ Jun 29 2010, 09:35 AM) That's a good question I am asking myself too I bought the "Complete" last time it was on offer 1-2 months back and now wondering if I should get Heir to the Throne too or not. I think Frags may have bought it before, but not sure, maybe he can comment on HttT. QUOTE(chiakm @ Jun 29 2010, 01:00 PM) Yeah, need feedback from frags. Though i'm very tempted to get Complete and HttT. The problem with Paradox is they sell their expansions for a high price. HtTT was going for 20 as well as Semper Fi for HoI3. I think many of those Paradox hardcore fans will say no brainer but to me that's pretty expensive. They all make the game better, no arguments about that. That is why I think if you can get those expansions for a discounted price, it would be great because from what I know HtTT is worth it.Is Europa Universalis Rome good? I heard it's pretty small scale compared to the other Europa games. Heir To The Throne basically adds an heir dynamic in which nations now have kings and an heir(these are random actually you can't influence who becomes heir etc). This makes the game more interesting as you can focus on grabbing a nation that has no heir. When the king dies you can declare a succession war etc. Plus there are a lot more casus beli types(making declaring more easier than in the base game). You can now also create an advisor from a list of different type of advisors. In the past you only had to pick from a list of this fixed advisors, if you don't have what you are looking for you need to wait until the game makes one available for you. Now you can just create the one you need. Also added something called a sphere of influence where you can spend prestige to sort of say this country is in my sphere of influence. Other nations won't be able to do some diplomatic deals with them and you get automatic casus beli against a nations that is aggressive towards them. Also now the infamy(bad boy rating you get if you are too much of a war monger) rating is stated in the main screen, so you now your reputation at all times. EU Rome is a different beast. It is indeed smaller covering British isles to Greece(and part of Russia IINM) with bits of Africa. The nation management aspect of it is much lighter and the focus is on the personalities in your government. You hire every single position in the government, you select them from a list of personalities you get. Each of them has traits and ambitions(which you need to be mindful of). They can make friends as well as enemies in your government. Rivalries can be deadly as if these rivalries were with people of high influence and position in your governments, it can lead to a civil war. Only the combat system is the same as in EU. Everything else is given it's own twist or simplified(like the trade system). EU Rome is Paradox's most underdeveloped title if you ask me. It still needs one more expansion to become great. I still think managing your personalities is still too clunky and no summary screen showing all the rivalries and powerful people in an easy to see page. There is a list of personalities screen but that's still not good enough if you ask me. Also it might be a bit daunting as you can get A LOT of personalities. If you can get this cheap, just buy it. Certainly not their best or most polished but some people really like this game too. |
