It was yesterday (9/4/10)
I went to Hotel Selesa JB to COD my iPhone with potential buyer.
He asked me to bring my laptop with me so that i can backup my data later bcos he is in hurry .................[1].
The when i get there, he asked my to park my car at the roadside.
Then he get into my car, then .... (drama start).

He told me that he want to take my iPhone, then sell it to his customer inside the Hotel.
He bring along two other iPhone 3GS with him, he said the customer WTB 3 iPhone 3GS at a time.
He said the customer want to pay him RM7500 (RM2500 each)
Then he willing to pay RM2250 for my iPhone (RM2200 for my iPhone, and RM50 for my fuel+parking) .................[2]
Then i said, i cant let him take my iPhone just like that bcos i got no guarantee that i will get my money.

He: "dont worry, just 5minutes" (same thing again and again) .................[3]
Me: "i don't trust stranger"

Then i asked him to leave his wallet and car key.
He said, he didnt bring it, he left it inside his room (he said his room is 9xx) .................[4]

Then i asked him to leave his phone (iPhone 3GS).
The he refuse. He said he got many customer/wife want to call him. (every 5minutes, there are call coming in when he inside my car)
Pretend to be busy man with good business and the deal is promising. .................[5]

(after 20mins of drama)

He asked me to park my car inside the hotel parking (maybe to make me feel confident that he is staying in the hotel)
Then i parked at level 4.
Then the same drama happen (~15minutes)

Then i felt like something not right, then i refuse to sell my iPhone to him.
I turned back to my car, then he called me back, he agreed to leave his phone with me as a guarantee.
Then i took my sim, he took his sim.
The he asked me to borrow my laptop to jailbreak all the three iPhones. I said NO!!! ..... (Refer [1])

Then he asked me to wait 20mins.
I waited at the lobby.

After 20mins, i talked to the hotel guards about my situation.
The guard told me that there is no room 9xx. The 9th floor is a hall.
The rooms start with >12xx
Then the guards agree to accompany me if anything happen.

I decided not to lodge police report as the police will take the iPhone as the evident.
Then i got nothing
I consult the guard and my lecturer, they agree not to lodge police report based on their experience.

Until now he went missing with my iPhone (fullset)
And i hold his iPhone (transceiver only-maybe stolen iphone, or maybe really his iphone but he is so confident people cant break the passcode)
Unfortunately his iPhone is LOCKED WITH PASSCODE
Now gathering hackers to hack into the phone (while preserving the content).
Now i cant even go into the springboard.
The iphone is passcode locked, not sure jailbroken or not, wifi is turned off.

Later i will post what inside the iPhone (he and his family pictures, if got la)
Will post the call record, his family contact, his SMSes

Note:
1) This is my 2nd times i got cheated. Thats why im so careful. Maybe if some of us unfortunate enough, they will lost their iPhone/stuff just like that.
2) My lost iPhone serial number: 88937A2C3NQ
3) My lost iPhone IMEI: 011984009340722 (the warranty card is with me, he asked to to keep it)
4) I post my ads on mudah.my (Johor)
5) [2], [3], [4] and [5] are the scammer tricks.

Moral:
1) Dont trust stranger.
2) Dont trust drama.
3) Choose your buyer carefully.
4) Now there is new scam trick that use hotel as a place to COD.
5) Be rigid. (Im kinda soft-hearted person, but not idiot )
6) Life is cruel. People will do anything to get rich

Like you said, don't trust anyone. I never let anyone sit into my car during COD. I appoint a place meet the buyer there and settle it on the spot(normally in crowded places like shopping mall).

1st one postage - RM300, 4years ago.
this one COD
so now got complete scam experience
fortunately got his iphone.
still the same 3GS 16GB
but i still prefer mine
and all the accessories!

now try guna linux.
mintak tolong azwan.
pencuri kalau guna phone dia sendiri pun kita cakap phone curi.
sbb dia pencuri.
anyway this phone is disabled la.
xboleh guna.
boleh received call je.
if i cant do nothing with it, then i proceed to restrore la.

actually there are all yellow line at the roadside.
and there is nowhere so sit2 and talk2.
what i see is ambank, car wash, police station and hotel selesa.

but it will be NO next time.
perhaps it will lead to worse case after this.

no flaming please...he is damn sad enuf now.
COD-ing in a car is at least better than COD outside the car by the roadside..
Nevertheless, best is to COD in a secured n confined area.

Feel sorry for your loss(even you have his iphone), but still your might be a maxis set,and his a locked set.

anyways, as for me, i always cod places like starbuck, mcd, and other common areas.

i guess not much can be done, but do try to hold on to the data in the phone as it can help you to lead back to him.

this shud be the right way to COD, u wont know the potential buyer is a real buyer or potentail scammer/robber!

for my COD cases, i prefer to meet at public places like fast food restaurant. Bring your fren along to avoid any unforseen situation!!

Agreed, Public place is a better choice!!

If i go alone,I will choose COD at any Main Entrance
of Shopping Complex, at least there may be have
one or two Security Guard on duty ..

Bro, report your stolen phone to Apple and Maxis/DiGi.

If your iPhone gets stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this Mobile Phone's IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity).... can we ??..

i've cod few times with ppl inside car. 1 hand cash 1 hand item, no cash or item no deal. simple. strangers cannot be trusted

just ask the potential buyer get out of your car or walk a away to avoid many dramatic scenes. talk so much, no action. hate this kind of buyers
