Kobe, If I were you, I'd add one Gabriel Batistiuta to the list. I remember him being linked to you lot but you never made a bid because the board did agree to paying so much for a player who was 30. Would have been great to see him in the Premiership I reckon.
Anyway back to my team then.
Regrets for me?
1) When Greame Souness sold the likes of Peter Beardsley, Ray Houghton and John Barnes prematurely. 2) When Greame Souness signed crap like Paul Stewart, Mark Walters, Nicky Tanner, Istvan Kozma and Torben Piechnik. 3) When Greame Souness sold Dean Saunders. 4) Selling Xabi Alonso is fast climbing my list of transfer regrets. 5) El Hadji Diouf, nuff said. 6) I miss Igor Biscan, my favourite cult player.

QUOTE(kobe8byrant @ Apr 8 2010, 08:33 PM) Buying or selling Diouf? Because I always liked him. Not one you'd want against you but still..... Buying. Didn't like what I saw in the World Cup. He was cheating even back then. QUOTE(kobe8byrant @ Apr 8 2010, 08:33 PM) and your thoughts on Cisse? Good question. I actually liked him and wish he got more playing time as a striker, not a winger. Poor old Flo Po was constantly used as a winger as well with Rafa's preference to play 1 out and out striker. The other player I thought we should never have sold was Peter Crouch.

On the issue of C.Ronaldo, GH had wanted to give him a trial but a certain Phil Thompson didn't think he was worth the fee at the time. Can't say I regret us not having a go because I've always valued character over talent and I don't like him, talented as he may be. That being said, one can't help but wonder if we'd have won a title with him in our squad since we've been having problems acquiring decent wingers the past decade.

QUOTE(Charkoteow @ Apr 17 2010, 06:35 AM) u forget Barton, Butt, Geremi, Bramble, Boumsong, Carr, Dabizas, Marcelino, Ketsbia and the fukken list can go on.. oh and selling Ginola, Sir Les, Asprilla, Jenas, Milner, Bassong, Dyer, N'Zogbia are not good transfer deals too. Though Dyer seems to be farked up now, but during the time NU sold him, he's still good. Remember the cool composure outside the box goal against Arsenal? Hate the chairmans, not the managers. Buying players without the manager's consent is totally not a good way to run a club. Another testament to why Shay Given was one of the most underrated keepers in the league at the moment; playing behind both Bramble and Boumsong at the same time. Can't say I followed too many Newcastle games but I thought Ketsbia was pretty decent. Ginola was pure genius. He didn't have blinding pace but he had really good feet. Too bad he never had the opportunity to shine on the world stage, after the gave the ball away against Bulgaria, resulting in a goal and ultimately France crashing out of the World Cup qualifiers. One of my favourite wingers ever.
