First serious post from waile in a month.
But to add to that, i have a friend who was a victim of such fraud. This man called up my friend and says that she owes RM5K plus to Ambank as her CC was frauded and failure to do so would result in police report being made. Then she says the guy gave a account number and ask her to bank in the money to avoid being reported and blacklisted. My friend saw that the the telephone number resembles Ambank telephone number(only 2 digits were different from Ambank actual telephone number) and started to panic and then proceeded to bank in RM5K to them.
AFter a few days, she realises that something is wrong then decided to call up the real Ambank number and the first thing she heard when she was connected to Ambank is that there's this modus operandi where they used a similar number to trick the customers into thinking they owe the bank money and etc. That was when she knew she was cheated and when she made a police report, the policeman in charge says she was the 2nd person this moring that made the report.
So people, be really careful of this and we suspect that this could be the work of insider as they have the fullname and IC number.
i always got such fraud calls b4,
i usually tell them and insist tat i dun have any credit card,
then they will jz hang up haha...
DO NOT apply credit card in shopping centre or via agents,
most likely they will sell applicant's info to 3rd party..
