A middle-aged Singaporean man was charged in court after a tenant discovered a camera phone hidden in a shampoo bottle that was use to record images people in the shower.
Court documents obtained by Shin Min Daily news stated that the man, who was not named, had taken the video images of four male and female tenants between 7 and 8 February this year.
The 50-year-old placed a camera phone in an empty shampoo bottle, which he then set to record videos, and then planted the device in the bathroom of his second-storey Ang Mo Kio flat.
Over the course of two days, he had managed to capture several footages of one male and three female tenants taking a shower. The tenants are all foreigners - a Malaysian man and woman, and two Myanmarnese women.
The man's actions were discovered when a 38-year-old Malaysian tenant accidentally knocked the shampoo bottle over, subsequently discovering the camera hidden inside.
Now facing a total of five charges including outraging the modesty of a woman, the accused can be sentenced to a maximum of one year in jail, a fine of up to $5,000 or both.
Court proceedings will continue on November 4.
