my car just arrived.........we will see how long they take to go through all the formalities...........

titanium silver........luck of the draw.......didn't choose colour, any colour i accept, except black........

you need to adjust the center vents to blow UPWARDS towards the ceiling of the car cabin, and the curve of the ceiling will reflect the cool air downwards to the back passengers.........if the front passengers monopolises all 4 vents, cool air will not reach the back.......try it and you will see/feel what i mean.......

am in no hurry now anyway, so i will let things take it's natural course.........

finally met my new car.......14km on the odo.......and very dirty.......left outside somewhere for a while already.....chassis still k........

test drove the car........and based on that 10km drive, this is what i feel......my benchmark is a 14 year old 1st generation perdana.....

aircon okay, no problem cooling the car quire rapidly, as good as the perdana, but yes, it tends to want to switch to open vent mode.....

power is okay, not significantly more than the perdana, but at cruising speed, 100kph is at 2200rpm, compared to 2400rpm.......

veer to the left, like almost all forte!!....

bumpy, as the pressure still not corrected.....but road noise is less than perdana......and engine is very much quieter......

someone mentioned a lag when accelerating from a mid speed of 40-50kph, like turning round a tight bend........that's the lag for the engine to downshift from 4th to 3rd gear to catch enough torque to accelerate........it's the same in the perdana, but the lag is a split second longer in the forte, thus giving a momentary sensation of loss of power......ie, it is not as responsive as the perdana.......

steering is light, but stiffens at higher speed, but like all electrics, has a numb feel, ie, no feel of the road at all.......

overall, quite similar to the 1.6l sx, with a bit more oomph......

i am going to miss the trusty old practically-made-in-japan 1st gen perdana, it actually is a very well tuned and balanced car......imagine 14 years later, i find a brand new forte comparable..........

the most fuel efficient time is when an average car is cruising on a dry road at about 60km/h..........below that speed, the fc per 100km goes up..........and faster that that, greater wind resistance kicks in, and the fc also goes up...........

the car's av fc reading is an average of your recent driving style and condition.........

now you only know meh.........?

yes...........

fc is calculated based on petrol consumed/distance traveled.........expressed in l/100km....

when stationary on idle, your distance traveled is zero..........

therefore any number/zero is infinity..........

if you leave your car idle till the tank runs dry, your fc is infinity as you have not traveled an inch........

if you cannot press the brake for any reason to activate the start button, in the standby mode, press the start button for 10s and the car will start without stepping on the brake..........

weekend roster earns you big bucks.....

btw, what exactly did you pay for your cerato, all in?

we have discussed this before.........

NEVER allow you child to sit in the front seat........especially if your wife is also sitting in front.......there is no way to secure the child.........

get a child seat at the back, or a seat booster when they are older.........when they are about 4-5 years old, they can be easily trained to sit by themselves at the back.........

used to be triple rate........and the vietnamese used to love to take the weekends...........

so the price works to about rm80k........which makes the rm92 price here good value for money, close to the REAL value, compared to usual japs..........

either way is fine with me.......i am in no hurry, so we can wait a bit more........there are not many 2.0 owners here, and traffic through this thread has slowed down since people started getting their cars delivered........

i suggest wait another week, till end of next week........a lot of people are not online over the weekend.......
