Actually dogs can be trained to avoid food from strangers. You can ask one of your friend to be act like a 'stranger' and stand outside the gate in front of your dog, throw a piece of delicious meat to your dog. Inside the meat, put a lot of chilli padissss. Your dog will gobble up the meat and start to 'cry'.. Do it a few times, and it will NEVER accept meat from strangers.

By the way, mine house is going to be equipped with ambient lightings, grills on lower floors, alarm + CCTV, gate and garage door, and a panic room.

sometimes having dog is useless. My neighbors are so used to her barking that when a real robbery was going on, nobody helped. Maybe also at the time most of the youngsters were at work. Left the old people around and what can they do? Scream sky high?

Some dogs dont bark, they just bite... By having a 'beware of dogs' sign is a good idea.

Dog is a good choice. I had one and barking alone enough to get the robber away.

Still remember one midnight, our family was awake from the barking...and saw 2 guy trying to kopek my car. They ran away when we open the light room.

CCTV is the lousy choice. Dog is better.

Hi, do you guys mind to share your "contigency plan" to safeguard yourselves in case of robber breaking in your house? I stay in a gated house now, however, i don't feel secured at all cos even the guards are foreigners. Something is very wrong, just wonder is there any measures can be taken to protect our life?

Hi, I think since your place is gated. Therefore, it should be cheaper comparatively to get a scheme of insurance that covers most of your valuable in case of break-in. The best would be the insurance that covers the Full Theft, meaning that, even though you can't prove your house is being broken into, you're still covered. smile.gif

One good example will be the Allianz Homeguard Insurance. I got it for myself as well. My hometown used to be flooded at the end of the year. With this, we no longer need to worry so much about the flood damaging our safa, bed, and kitchen stuff.
