Here's what I usually roll:

Optics for Vehicles everytime. Unless its a APC vs APC map, then it's ALT Fire (You shoot AT missiles).

Assault: Akaban+RDS+Magnum. Underslung launcher depends on the map. There's a gun attached to that 40mm, kids.
Medic: M60+RDS+Accuracy. Ultimate hurrdurr.
Engi: Gustav (RPG if the map is more vehicle-heavy) +Ammo+EXPLDMG, PP-2000 for SMG.
Recon: M95+12xScope+Magnum. If I go battle Recon then it's USAS+C4+C4 ammo+Shotty ammo

I try Neostead with slugs sometimes but the hit detection is too spotty.

Normal bullet. No drop.
Also, I'm pretty much using the M36 for the Medic exclusively.
Comes with its own Red Dot, allowing me to take both healing perks.
Furthermore, if you rapidly tap the fire button (don't hold it down) you can pretty much snipe anyone since your aim never jumps.
I'm going to try the MG3 once it gets buffed though. Nothing like spraying and praying.

It makes a really, really cool firing sound when you're firing it at full auto though.
