Hi All,

i plan to get a propose ring.. but out of so many jewellery shop in MY & SG, i have 4 shop in my mind.. but i not sure which 1 carry more reliable stone. hope you all can give me some advice.

shop in my mind as below:
Lee Hwa @ SG - they have Destinee series
Sookee Jewellery (Brilliant Rose) @ SG - i haven't visit the 1 at Pavilion.
Gold Hearts @ SG - they have Celestial series which MY dun have
Love & co @ MY - nothing much special.
DeGem @ MY - they are doing GIA promotion now.

as my understanding, Lee Hwa, Sookee Jewellery, Gold Hearts are quite established company in SG, but how bout DeGem? because the price they offer me now is really tempting

I helped custom ordered two rings from Tiffany for my frenz, cost 8k+ for each, If i recalled correctly..

Quite nice..
But dunno whether here got those Tiffany or not la..
>_>"

Tiffany rings were out of my budget... got my wedding rings from Carat Club also...
the cheapest engagement ring that i got quoted from Tiffany is more than RM8k... some more is HVVS2 and 0.2 Carat only... but damn nice and shiny smile.gif

there's Tiffany in KLCC and pavilion, but not sure if we have customization services or not...
*
Yeap~
Memang out of budget but since wedding only once, why not splurge?
I am NOT paid to advertise Tiffany but once I saw em already, already drooling after em XD
I think Tiffany in KLCC does not do customization in Malaysia~
His Tiffany was purchased in United States..

I used to have a Tiffany but too bad, it was returned to its rightful owner..
Quite simple..
Just a plain platinum ring, and no diamond..
Cost bout 3k,I think XD

How much is this?
*
Knowing it's a Tiff and the price ain't cheap locally.

Expect the price range from 10k onwards.

That's if its a 1 carat diamond with the best cut, clarity, color and etc.

Won't hesitate to blow a 20k for a Tiff, unless I can afford a Cartier laugh.gif

actually any idea on propose ring ??
i just like ..wow...all 0.50 carat already 10k ..

any idea can get around for 2k ??
because if 10k budget , i would spend the balance 8k for our dream house, furniture those will be kill me and i believe, she would agree i do that..
*
8k can't get much.

A good sofa cost at least 6k onward.

If she's willing to settle for a cheap ring, just get one only.

But in my honest opinion, it's one in a lifetime thing, so go crazy a bit is okay laugh.gif

Just cut back on things like wedding receptions and etc.

yesterday just bring my gf to visit TOMEI
0.31 carat , grade with F , VVS1 , cost for RM 7k , its this reasonable ??
*
Define reasonable? laugh.gif

Color F should be okay.

VVS1 also not too shabby.

If it's certified by GIA, should be no problem much.

I am not a diamond expert, so for me, what's acceptable maybe not acceptable for others.

Most importantly, your GF like the ring or not?

If yes, go ahead and don't think too much about it.

You maybe can get better deals out there but if she don't like it, no point as well :/

she been tried for 0.13 , once put on her hand...straight away say too small..
the sales person also smile but cant say anythings.
i am planning to buy a normal one
as , u propose need 1 ring, when register 1 pair , and married time need 1 more..
total need 3 times..
the cost will kill me
*
Or you could buy 1 Tiffany and tell her, look, this one cost a bomb.

So no need another 2 rings la.

Daily use unlikely to wear diamond unless she works at some uber high end place.

In fact, I don't see anyone in my office wearing a diamond ring to work ( except for one but that's because she's engaged. Once married will probably switched to a wedding band )

haha...i agree
normal ring cuz around 800 for female, 1k for male, that one ok la
but when propose, use .31 carat , i straight away doh.gif
*
laugh.gif

So, try my suggestion instead.

She'll probably like something from tiffany, then you can tell her you buy for her one expensive one can already.

No need so many coz won't use laugh.gif

But if you fail, prepare to lose more than 7k tongue.gif

She already like 0.31 carat diamond.

You think she will settle for a plain gold ring for that price? laugh.gif

Once you open the flood gate, high chance you won't escape paying that much tongue.gif

Gold bar = yes.

Gold ring = no.

There's a difference between the price for gold and gold ring.

QUOTE(D-Zire @ Apr 18 2016, 12:10 AM)
Now I have no idea which to choose. Was given a few choices namely,

D&P Estrella
G VS2 3EX 0.41  RM7900
D VS1 3EX 0.412 RM10135
G VS1 3EX 0.386 RM7600

Lazare (Degem)
I VS1 Ideal 0.35 RM7600
G VS2 Ideal 0.35 RM8000

Which one to take? and How good is Lazare's cert compared to GIA?
Good thing about Estrella is that the ring comes in platinum while lazare is 18k White Gold.
*
I'd go GIA any day of the week.

Side note : For a 10k budget, you can sacrifice a little in terms of size and go get a Tiffany.

Overrated brand yes, but the stones are usually pretty good and the Tiffany setting is in Plat.

Roughly 10~12k can get you one laugh.gif

Smallest stone is about 0.18 and largest would be around 0,3-ish if you are willing to sacrifice a little on the clarity/color.

Haha true also. But i'm trying to control the budget as the proposal package (or so i call it) is done at tokyo. So i have to factor in the costs etc.

Oh ya what about the hemera diamonds? Not sure about certs but the 101 facets looks pretty promising as normal round brilliant only has 57 faces.
*
laugh.gif

No idea about Hemera, thou I saw some of their rings which looked pretty sweet.

I only followed Tiff and Cartier's products so I can't provide any advice other than choosing the ring that she likes the most within your budget tongue.gif

any chance to get a tiffany proposal ring at Rm3k?

Stolen = Yes

If buy from Tiffany = Min 10k for a diamond with the smallest size. Usually around 12~15k.

LOL... just checked around, it cost at least 9k....

Any advice for brand that I can look for ring priced below 10k? reasonable price yet look nice...
*
No idea.

At least 9k if you opt for 0.18 which is their smallest size diamond.

That one also if got stock laugh.gif

If you think it's worth it, just bite the bullet and buy.

It's a once in a life thing.

Some people might say its branding or etc ( Since you can get cheaper outside with another brand ).

yeah kinda agree.. similar spec ring, i can get it at 5k at Love & Co and maybe even cheaper with those Poh Kong etc... any advice on how to pick nice diamond?
*
Follow the 5C rule lor.

See what's your priority.

If want bigger carat have to compromise colour or clarity lor.

But my advice remains.

Just get the Tiffany. It's worth more in term of emotional happiness if you can afford it.

Yes you may get a better spec ring from other place but it's not Tiffany tongue.gif

But tiffany is not certified by GIA...
*
Tiffany diamond "allegedly" higher standards than GIA tongue.gif

They do waste a lot of the diamond by cutting it deeper than others would do.

Anyways, brands like Tiffany / Cartier / Van Cleef and Arpels don't need GIA cert. Their names alone command a respectable resale value, if you want to let go of them someday.
