Just got a proposal ring as well! Can't wait to pop a question! one more week. biggrin.gif

The process of choosing the perfect ring is so much harder than expected but when you finally find the right one, you'll know. nod.gif

need some help, how can I get the correct size from my girl for her not to notice that im gettng her a ring?
*
For me, i just measured one of her old rings she's got lying around. If not, ring shops will usually re-size the ring for you if it doesn't fit so that's not a problem.

Height and weight? lol didn't know that. I don't even know my girlfriend's weight. lol

How much is this?

QUOTE(deodorant @ Dec 12 2012, 12:17 AM)
I'd wager a guess it's rm20k or more.

Size-wise it looks like at least a 1ct. T&C doesn't sell the lower grade diamonds, theirs are all pretty impressive CCC-wise. Non-premium branded rings are already rm10k+ for 0.5ct, what more a 1ct T&C biggrin.gif

Anyway I was digging around my photos archive and I found a photo of the diamond that I bought for my fiancee a year ago (photograped and emailed to me by the seller lol).

0.6Ct only.

Yeah.. it's more than RM20k unfortunately. rclxub.gif

That is a beautiful diamond deodorant. Love the hearts and arrows. thumbup.gif

no pic ler, and that one is loose diamond only without the ring, actually me and my friend went together and he got this one
me still looking for ''the one''    blush.gif
and my budget only around 5k, can anyone recommend me? for myself i would prefer 0.5 at least, color and clarity i need to let go one either as my budget is low..and so far i found wah chan is cheaper lah...  laugh.gif  the SA recommend me take loose diamond GIA 3EX 0.5 D SI1 rm5k
thanks ya
*
Okok. Wah Chan prices are lower. Maybe bring your 5k budget to a few shops and see what you can get then decide from there. See if size, color or clarity is more important to you.

guys need help on some questions.

proposal ring can it be wedding ring? straight buy one pair then no need buy again?
anyone doing this way? Thank you.

also around 2to3k can get one pair platinum? a lil diamond mayb?

THanks again
*
It really is up to you. Engagement ring is usually the more fancy one and the wedding band is the simple one that you wear daily. Best to wear a non diamond one in Malaysia. Some girls just prefer one to save money, some prefers two. Getting loose diamonds might be cheaper. I have friends getting it from Blue Nile diamonds and then look for a ring to set the diamond on.

Previously got ppl shared he bought it at Rm2550 for this spec! Not sure how he got it..
*
Maybe he got it at a sale, or he is really good at haggling. I usually just leave my requirements with the jeweler; i tell them the specs of the 4Cs i require and my budget and tell them to give me a call when they find one that fits. Alternatively, why don't you look for loose diamonds instead? Then look for the ring. It might be cheaper. hmm.gif

engagement ring must be diamond? can get ruby or sapphire or not? my gf like pink. i think sapphire should be good. i wonder if there is any pink diamond?
*
It's up to the couple. Nobody sets these rules anyway. Yeah there are pink diamonds but i am not sure how common it is in Malaysia and i heard it is very expensive. Look for those from the Argyle Diamond Mine in Australia. The color is really nice.

Hi guys,

I just read through the whole thread and i dont quite understand when comes to ring and the "spec"

I plan to buy a propose ring, with budget 3-4k.

What i need to look into before really paying for the ring?

Kindly enlighten me biggrin.gif
*
Diamond's color, cut, clarity, and carat bro. Which one is most important to you? Then take it from there.

smile.gif

For mine, I gave them the specs I want and the price I am willing to pay and just told them to give me a call when they find one. Waited two weeks for the perfect one. Don't need to rush, takes time to find. I think most jewelers sells loose diamonds. Try asking around the few usual jeweler shops then you will get an idea of the prices bro.

Best way is to go into a shop and tell them to show you the different grades of diamonds then you see which C is more important to you. smile.gif

got a ring from diamond platinum

price 2.7k
forevermark diamond

color D
clarity VVS2
carat 0.17

guys u think the price ok?
actually bought d. just wanna know its worth it
salesgitl says color the best and clarity quite good. not easy to find
*
I personally would prefer size over color and clarity. I had a comparison of different diamonds with different colors and clarities and i can't really tell the difference unless i squint really hard. But anyway, congrats bro. biggrin.gif

guys,

need an advice for

0.35ct
colour: F
clarity: VVS2
Triple Ex
with GIA Cert
incluse 18k white gold ring : RM 3400

is it ok for that price?
*
I think it's alright, if you compare it to sunghajung11's diamond. There is a cert as well so that's pretty good. Which shop is that from? Any pictures of the design? Remember to save some money for the wedding band as well.

I just got a wedding band yesterday, costs of the wedding getting out of control. cry.gif

Wah Chan quoted me the following specs with a RM 5.6k pricetag.

0.41 carat
colour: D
clarity: VVS2
Triple Ex
with GIA Cert
18k white gold ring

What do you guys think about the specs and price?
*
Looks good bro. Quite worth it. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(BboyDora @ Jan 30 2013, 07:26 PM)
actually how do you all determined the description of the proposal ring? the sales person will show you?

Actually Im looking for a proposal ring which is range RM 1.5k or below (not a rich guy here and my gf don't like jewelry, so its doesnt matter)

which place recommended and what should I look for in a ring.?

I saw there is description you guys (colors , carat etc etc) mention but how do I determine it. (I`m zero knowledge about jewelry)

Thanks notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

Wah Chan might be your best bet. There are 4Cs you should look out for when choosing a diamond ring. Color, Cut, Clarity and Carat. See which is most important to you then take it from there. Don't be taken in by sweet sales talk. Take your time to look around and visit a few shops at least then see which is the the most suitable.

18k white gold ring

Wondering if I should get this or the RM5.6k one...which would you guys go for?
*
Save some money, go for this. Color D and F hardly any noticeable difference.
