hey guys, i'm flying to KL this coming Sunday to visit Tiffany&Co. due to my location (Swak), family and work commitments, i will only have one day in KL =(

i have 2 questions:

1) which outlet provides better service? KLCC or Pavillion?
2) do I have to call them up to "book a session" with them?

thank you very very much in advance!
*
I didn't had to book a session with them when I bought mine but I found it easier to let them know my requirements via email before dropping in. Took me a month to find the perfect one.

Dear all,

I'm looking to buy a proposal ring too...my budget is around RM3-4K, heard that DeGem is good, can give me any idea for it?

Thanks & appreciate for your kind of advice.

There are always good deals around guys. You will need to go into a few different stores and see what you can get with your budget. Those are pretty decent budgets. Should be able to get something good. Just ask yourself which is most important to you first, Carat, Color, Clarity and Cut then take it from there. Easier that way. If your girl likes big diamonds, then go for size. If she wants something smaller and less imperfections, go for clarity. Things like that la. But based on my personal observation, size seems to be most important. If you intend to mount the diamond on a gold ring, diamond Color will not matter much. flex.gif

To me: Cut > Carat > Color > Clarity.

Anyway, try to get something that comes with a cert and don't give in to sweet sales talk like how rare that diamond is, how many people are fighting over it etc... i heard that so many times when choosing the engagement ring then the wedding band. Take your time, compare different shops and get the one with the best value. Don't exceed the budget if not comfortable with it, wedding costs can get out of hand BADLY.

hi to all experienced ring purchaser/ ring owner here,

i have a budget of rm 15k..

do u think i can get 0.4 carat/ 18k white gold, colour in Tiffany & Co? thanks..
*
Depends on the other specs. Color, clarity and cut. Shouldn't be a problem. I spoke to some Tiffany personal shoppers in US Tiffany when i was looking for mine, they will be able to get you a list of diamonds available for your budget. Let me know if you want her contact. Beware of import costs though.

Nice ring bro, mind to share the prices and details?

Thanks bro. Engagement ring is slightly more than one carat. I think the color is H or something. Nothing spectacular. Around RM50k for both.

Ouch that's way over my budget... think i can get a 0.8-0.99c at arouund 8-10k?
*
A bit hard to get 0.8 to 0.99 for that price. I am thinking at least 15k? Unless you want to go very low on color and clarity?

Unfortunately. Comes in a little green box that's why. sweat.gif

Did you compare this to other diamonds in the same range (~1carat)? If so, how much was the price difference between the Tiffany diamond and other brands? I'm asking cause i'm looking myself smile.gif
*
Depends on a lot of factors. If exact same specs, you will be paying around 50% more for the Tiffany brand. But the service is incredible. The quality of the ring is second to non too I feel. You can drop into any of heir shops around the world to get it cleaned for free. They allocated a Personal shopper to me too, very helpful. Nothing beats the smile on the wife's face.

I live in Australia so it's safe to wear. If you are in Malaysia, probably not that safe or wear a ring that's too flashy I think?

Thank for the reply and price indication. Will be doing some research and visit DeGem and the others very soon. You are probably right about the safety but that doesn't seem to be a valid reason for the gf somehow smile.gif The things we do!

Choosing ring don't need to rush. Sales people will always say big discount or ten people wants the ring or one day discount and lots of other nonsense. Don't fall for it. Know your budget and specs that you want.

Degem Lazare quoted me the following specs with a RM 9,350 (diamond only).

0.49 CT
Color F
Clarity VS1
Ideal cut

Worth?
*
Sounds a bit expensive to me. Maybe it's just me. Color up till I is still acceptable. Can't really tell it's yellowish.

Hi Guys,

I have a hard time to pick between Tiffany & co or other jewelers..

Quoted By T&C 0.22 E VS1 Rm8000 & 0.29 H VVS2 Rm9000

For the same price i would be able to get bigger diamond out there if it isnt T&C.. but my gf would love if it a T&C, set everything aside and not comparing the size.. T&C design is the best..

dilemma.. any help?
*
The Tiffany setting is really beautiful. We buy from them a lot so let me know if you want my personal shopper's details in the US. She can send you some prices as well. But USD is very strong now, maybe not that worth it importing.

T&C above 1 carat only got certificate. DP and LC not all product got GIA or IGI  mostly is in house rating. Are you intend to sell ? At first I very keen on having GIA OR IGI when we say this most sales person know we are water fish and naive 1. If you are buying a single 1carat stone (diamond stone) yes certificate is important cost maybe you wan resell or buy to keep for future.
*
You sure? I bought a couple from them for my wife. Bigger and smaller than 1 carat, both came with certs.

You bought at Tiffany & Co? that only applicable to Tiffany & Co source by the Pavillion branch store manager

I did. Sounds kinda strange that they don't provide certificates at Pavillion for smaller diamonds. hmm.gif

Man, I also planning to propose to my gf... Guys any advice where to start looking? I'm in kl btw, I a bit malu want got in the shop just to check out the price and diamonds they offering  blush.gif
*
I think best way is to drop by some shops and look at their designs and also decide how much you want to spend. Don't need to malu bro, you are a potential customer to them. Just take your time. Don't be tempted by their 30%, 40% discounts etc... its just a sales pitch. Visit a few shops and you should get a rough idea what you are after.

Abbie.Shoobs@Tiffany.com. I do all major purchases through her. Drop her an email with your budget and specs. She will send over a list of the diamonds in stock. Will be shipped from US.
