Not sure how much does it cost but I got mine at 5.5k for my whole Double Storey House with folding gate.

1. Powder Coated Mild Steel - 2.5k

- Living Hall Sliding Door (10'x7')
- Master Bedroom Window (12'x5')
- Master Bathroom Window (6'6"x2') & (5'x2')
- Family Hall Window (6'x2")
- Bedroom 2 Window (4'6"x5'6")
- Bathroom 2 Window (2'x4')
- Bedroom 3 Window (4'6"x5'6")
- Bathroom 3 Window (2'x4') & Ceiling Manhole
- Exchaust Fan
- Kitchen Window (6'x3'6") & (4'x3'6")

2. Wrought Iron Folding Gate with Small Door (Galvanized & Powder Coated) 12 feet - 3k

I still think the folding gate is too expensive. sad.gif

Hi all,

After reading through, from what I understand, if do galvanized + powder coat will be better and last longer. Just wondering, if use mild steel + galvanized + powder coat, how to know whether did they actually do galvanized for us or not? Coz after that, will put on powder coat, so won't know whether underneath that powder coat layer izit galvanized or not... anyone knows how to check? Just don't want to kena conned later   blush.gif

Also, powder coat means it's not smooth surface but something like orange peel skin surface with a bit of bumps (bumpy surface) right? Hope to get some advice on this... thanks!  smile.gif

I bet you can't see the galvanized result as below image since it has been covered by the paint.

However, may be you can visit the supplier factory to see how they process the galvanization of steel? blush.gif

Powder coated doesn't mean the surface is rough, it can be smooth surface as well like white color powder coating for Bathroom Bi-Fold door. However, powder coating process ensure that the paint of the surface is last longer & durable compared with normal painting process. smile.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the pic + info... Hmm, guess I'll just have to trust the grill supplier that they galvanized 1st before powder coat the grill, unless I follow them throughout the whole process when they are doing my grills tongue.gif

Ok, so powder coat surface can be smooth... but why izit some powder coat surfaces are a bit rough like orange peel skin? Different ways of processing (longer oven baking time, etc.)?

No idea how they process it but I guess it depends on color, since darker color mostly orange peel skin & light color is smooth surface. Your choice...
