For m15x, it will automatically throttle down when you use battery. I usually just leave it plugg if i plan on playing games. for surfing and normal word processors, battery is fine (though so far i can only stretch it for 2 hours too)

true that m15x doesnt have hdmi port, but dell does ship along display port to hdmi converter and it does work:)
