Here's a few questions to your question:
1. Do you have a budget? External flash is to help with different lighting conditions. You may use inboard flash but does the result satisfy you?
2. Are you doing a paid job or just or leisure? If it's for
leisure then maybe u can consider using a difuser instead if you don't really bother much about overall pictures as u just want a photo for memories
3. onboardflash is usually producing yellow colors(if not mistaken) so color temp
may run off if u pay close attention.
4. Any users out there using external flash usually don't bother about on board anymore.

more to add : . pop up flash . object behind the item will be dark .

Got time... just have to make time...
Cheapest I got from shops cannot beat garseng's online price. But online have to wait and I can't. Went out Sat morning, begin shopping at 10am, back by 11am. Got it for use on Monday. Was so so so happy with the results, worth the extra bit I spent.

And it's really true what bro Sky mentioned about "4. Any users out there using external flash usually don't bother about on board anymore." Results using the external is superb most of the time.

Bump up your iso. Don't be stingy with it. Sometimes using popup
flash can also allow you to create an dramatic photo. You'll be surprised onboard flash isn't that bad. It's just that there are limitations

Congrats on V8 for this thread!

I aree with Noobie1, why would you need to change your filter?

Also it depends on what sort of filter you are referring to smile.gif

Ahh, don't get mixed up with CPL and UV filter. They are both different types. CPL will reduce light by about 1 stop as well, so if you're gonna use that indoor you're gonna loose a lot of light.

Wen I recommend u to use your lens hood instead at least the hood will absorb the impact.

Cpl and uv is very different. Uv filter nowadays used for protection only. Cpl filter reduces reflection by allowing light go into the lens at a certain angle. Therefore it isn't recommended to use it for all conditions as it would usually be 1 to 2 1/2 stops lower hence shooting in the dark would be a pain in the ass.

Cheap filters will cause flaring and reduce IQ. If its possible not to use it I'd recommend not to. Perhaps get a padded bag for your dslr+lens would be better

different filter got different usage..act uv filter are just act as a safety cover for the lens. and cpl filter is to reduced the reflection on those reflection thing...even if u use cpl filter, it doesn't mean that the cpl filter is strong enough to protect ur lens...if you are not careful with your camera and drop it again, the cpl filter might broke as well...

so my advise, get another uv filter and take good care of your camera, don't let it fall again...

AFAIK, the purpose of UV filter is to protect lens only, while CPL filter is to reduce light.

In other word, UV can be used 24/7 while CPL can't, it will lower down the IQ. Most of the time, CPL will be used for outdoor, especially for shooting scenes which have river/pond/sea anything related with water and glass/window.

With CPL attached, you can see the water clearly and you can see through glass/window, instead of shooting reflections!

I personally haven't try it, but to those who has CPL, try to snap your aquarium with and without CPL attached. Please let me know the result. brows.gif

Ermm CPL will not lower the IQ of your images, especially if they are well made. They are used to polarize light, so it removes reflection from water or reflective surface, and a lot of photographers use it to get a "blue-er" sky smile.gif

UV filters for me reduces the IQ tongue.gif therefore, I do not recommend any UV filters biggrin.gif
